“Mike Kulyk Suspected of Being Bolshevist Agent,” Winnipeg Free Press. July 8, 1919. Page 04. --- Charged with travelling without a permit, he being a registered alien, Mike Kulyk is also suspected of being a Bolshevik agent. He was arrested yesterday morning on the C. P. R. train from Lac du Bonnet by Provincial Constable William Riley, of Molson, and will be brought up for trial at Beausejour. According to police authorities Bolshevistic propaganda is being circulated among the settlers and workmen of alien birth in the vicinity of Lac du Bonnet and the Winnipeg river valley. a meeting of foreigners was held Sunday at a point on the Pinawa channel just below the Winnipeg Electric Railway’s power plant. It is said that Kulyk was one of the speakers. When arrested, Kulyk is alleged to have tried to secretly dispose of some Bolshevistic literature he was carrying. The booklet escaped the eye of Constable Riley at the moment, but the train conductor picked it up and handed it over. A report on the arrest and on the Sunday meeting has been made to Royal Northwest Mounted police authorities.
