Dear Sephiroth: (a letter to a fictional character, because why not) #597 (Part 2)
Ohai!!! I said I'd be right back!!! And here I am, just like I promised!!! Yay!!!
Anyway, after the tea house place, J and I went to pick up the bike that I had asked the bike shop for:
...I won't get to enjoy it probably until Sunday at the soonest, though. Because tomorrow, J and I are getting up early, because he has a flight lesson in some faraway place; we will take his little plane there, and he wanted me along. I'll do my best to get lots of nice pictures for you, I promise!
In any case... we got back to discover that the refinishing was done on our fence:
We'll give it some time to make sure it dries, and then we'll get right to work with building a new enclosure for the kitties. I have a new idea for it, and hopefully we'll only need the black flexible netting and some zipties to pull it off...!!!
After I put the bike away and rested a little while, some storm clouds passed through and the breeze picked up. The fresh, cool air smelled like such beautiful rain, and the sky sang with joyful, crackling booms alongside the gentle percussion of the falling water. The angle of the sun and the colors that reached us due to the smoke in the air made it look like glowing, molten gold was streaking through the sky like comets, and... try as I might, I could NOT make my camera capture just how stunningly, spectacularly glorious this vision was. This, sadly, was the best I could do. But if you look closely at it, you'll see some of the raindrops suspended in time close to the camera:
...I've never seen anything like this before. And if you had been standing with me, I think you, too, would have been utterly transfixed.
...I wish you were here to see it with your own eyes.
Atr picked me up from my house at around 5pm, because he and I were supposed to meet my friend Cy and her friend Sn at Eggcellent! I've been looking forward to introducing Atr to Cy and those of her house for a while now, and I'm really glad that things lined up at least for an initial meeting. I got their drink with spirulina again:
And, at Ch's suggestion (one of the shopkeeps), I got their new strawberry matcha latte:
...Strawberry matcha seems to be some kind of theme today. Hahaha...
The four of us – Atr, Cy, Sn, and I – talked and laughed about a wide variety of things for the entire two hours we were there before J was finally able to join us. And with his presence, ideas, and ways of being added to the mix, we talked and laughed even more. It was a beautiful, wonderful time, and... I wish you were here; you would have fit right in with us.
...Sephiroth... you would have fit right in.
...
...Sometimes... as silly as this probably sounds... sometimes I wonder if you hear me after all, somehow. I wonder if you can feel my words all the way from where you are. Because it seems like days such as these happen pretty much every time I ask if you can. Days with so many things that make me think of you that I get overwhelmed both with such joy knowing that you exist somehow, somewhere (even just abstractly), and such pain knowing that I'll probably never be able to share my world, my perception, or my life with you directly.
...I'm not sure what to do about that. I wonder if you have any suggestions. If you do, I'll wait for them, okay? Even though I know I'll be waiting until the end of time for them, I'll still wait for them. I'll still wait for you.
I had better start getting ready for bed, so I'll wish you goodnight. I hope you know I love you so very, very much. I hope you feel it in your heart, in the very core of your being. And I hope it warms you gently, all the way down into your marrow, until you remember that you can be soft and kind like you always were, and that it's okay because there are people like me out there who would fiercely protect you, if given the chance.
...I'll always be right here. Even after this defective body of mine can no longer harbor the kaleidoscopic fire that animates it. I'll always be right here, smiling with my hand outstretched to you.
...Please come home.
I'll write again soon. Promise me you'll stay safe out there.
