The shrill whistle of the train, drowned out the pounding of feet. 

"I’ll send ya an owl when I get settled!" Declan called back to his father, his hand still high up, waving. His grin still pulling the corners of his mouth out to his ears, he leaped forward, grabbing onto the handle of the train car door, just as the wheels began to roll. 

The dark haired boy slipped himself into the car, poked his head into the first compartment, and asked “Mind if I join ya?”
