"Uh, just a tick," Declan replied, shifting and rummaging through the material on his side of the table. A loud clatter of metal on stone resounded as the knife fell.  "Bloody boggart's breath," he mumbled, reaching down to pick up the instrument. He handed it to his partner. "Sorry 'bout tha'"

  The ginger haired girl watched closely as  he skipped the rock. “Can I try?” She asked. “It’s a bit hot — but who’s complaining with the lake and all.” Lily sent a smile his way, reaching out and shaking his hand. “Lily. Nice to meet’cha. Hey — I think I’ve seen ‘ya somewhere before. What year are you in?”

"Pleasure t' meet ye, Lily," Declan replied. He nodded his head and gently tossed her a stone, whipping his arm behind his back for a bit of a flourish. "This is me fifth year. I'm in Slytherin house." He let another stone fly. "You're in Gryffindor, aren't ye? Think we shared a couple classes together last year."

The Black Lake at Spring

A light splash resounded, and Declan bent down for another stone. He had been skipping rocks all morning, and hadn’t found a reason to leave yet. 

Out of the corner of his eye, he caught sight of a girl, about his age, walking along the beach. 

"Right pretty mornin’ for a stroll, isn’t it, lass?" He asked, giving the girl a wave.

Lily thought it was a nice day out, sunny skys and it was pretty hot out, but it was regardless a nice day. Nice days for her were only made for one thing, beach days. Skipping along the beach, a huge smile was on her face. She turned as she heard another voice. “Hiya — you bet it is. Had nothin’ better to do today, so I thought — why not?” The ginger answered, waving back a little as she mad her way over to the boy.

With a quick flick of his wrist, Declan sent the stone in his hand skipping across the glassy surface. He nodded, his eyes still on the girl. "Aye, it's been near perfect." He reached out his hand as she came within reach. 

"Name's Declan. An' who might ye be, lass?"
