plotted starter for @beautifulnigtmare → anthony & katherine
despite the fact that she was at the other end of europe, the british social season wasn't that different from what she already had experienced at home. minus the pomp and splendour of once having been a promising debutant. here she was not one of the debutants (which makes sense because she wasn't born here) and if she's honest, she is a no one. people hardly noticed her as she had not been officially introduced but it didn't bother her.
at first, she had not been able to accept the plans of her distant relatives - let’s call them uncle and aunt - that now have a say over her. especially not after the disaster that happened in bulgaria. despite her previous romantic view, marriage was only an unkind formality. and maybe she should really see it that way. a formalistic contract that would allow her to return home.
katerina - here in england known as katherine - spatted bored through the gardens, her dull chaperone in tow. here one could at least breathe, in contrast to the ball room, in which quarrelsome mothers wanted to gain the attention of the best bachelors.
surprisingly, she found someone out here who was supposed to be surrounded by worshippers.
"are you trying to hide out here, my lord?" she asked with a tiny smile as she came to a halt, keeping her distance from him. she knows she is bold but she also didn't intend to appeal to him.
