Back to Basics: Eye-Makeup
Starting this month, MeowMantra is going to be partnering with Elizabeth Smith (Libby) to bring beauty tutorials to the blog. Basically, Libby will be offering up her expertise on all things hair and makeup, not once, but twice a month. Obviously, there will be a learning curve here (for both of us), so bare with us as we work through it and make tweaks to the photo tutorials. With that, I present to you MeowMantra's first official beauty blog post:
Going back to school can be quite the stressful time, which unfortunately tends to show. Think about it and look around the classroom. You may notice that the people who made an effort (as far as dressing/makeup) at the beginning of the semester, may start to slack as the school year progressives, but they don't have to. It's all about the basics. A basic makeup look that is simple, light, effortless and not time consuming, can be just the solution for busy students.
Thus, Libby has come to the rescue and broken down for us a simple and natural eye makeup look that can be done in just a few, short minutes.

Before Beginning: Complete the foundation routine of your choice, using whatever foundation works best for your skin tone. Remember, that foundation is a tool for evening out the skin tone and lightly covering any imperfections, so use it as such. Do not cake it on or use it to make your face appear tanner or paler (you don't want to be the girl whose face doesn't match the rest of her body).
STEP ONE: Start by applying the highlighter to the hight points of your face. Then prime the eyelids (we used Two Faced Shadow Insurance, eyelid primer) and follow with a sweep of highlighter over the eyelids, from the inner corners to the brow bone.
STEP TWO: Next, using a fluffy eyeshadow brush (we used MAC 224) apply your light brown eyeshadow across the entire crease of your eyelid. (TIP: Tap off any excess eyeshade before applying - the lighter the application, the more natural the look).
STEP THREE: Finally, curl your eyelashes and lightly apply your favorite mascara (here we used Maybelline The Falsies Volume Express in "Blackest Black").
Voila! There you have it, a super simple but beautiful look, that is nearly effortless and incredibly natural. The look is light and wearable, which makes it a fantastic choice during these last few weeks of summer, when large amounts of make-up is not an option (hey, we all sweat, so why waste your time on a complicated makeup look that will melt off by 5 o'clock).

Give it a try. I promise you won't be disappointed. In fact, it just might become one of your go to simple makeup looks.
xoxo
