Yes, this is a 90s costume. But also, hi, I live here now.
A E S T H E T I C
A E S T H E T I C
When I'm sittin' around, thinkin' bout nothin'.
That tune comes on, so smooth.
So fine these beats are that I just slide into nothingness.
A E S T H E T I C
So beautiful are these beats, invoking colors never heard of.
Moments from the past, floating by like dreams in the past.
An ocean of thought millin' about and draggin' my feet through.
Blinkin' my eyes turn blue, staring into a green cube.
Thoughts slide from my mind like a second skin.
Flutterin' through the air, hangin' far from my mind.
A E S T H E T I C
A beauty only known to me, so lonely to hold.
Distant thought without distance.
Always wandering in these oceans of words, wonderin' what the next moment will bring.
Floating about, sitting on the edge of reality shootin' the breeze of this weird and ol' fling.
Colors which have no names, slidin' from my thoughts, painting worlds with words never spoken.
So free my mind, never thought I'd be so broken.
A E S T H E T I C
The beat fades, like a love passed in a moment.
So longing my eyes were, seeking after that fleeting agreement.
A kiss that was never mine, only this sea of thought, illusions that slipped through my fingers like sand.
Turnin' inward a whisper touches my ear like a fruit tastin' so bland.
A E S T H E T I C
An idea we chase for so long that we figure it's so grand.
But just like this sand.
Slippin' through our fingers, we never have it.
Only these fleeting moments, these momentary pictures.
So thinkin' that these beats are a cure, it's jus' a reminder how lonely the heart is.
So let's step out of these beats as they fade away, thinkin' of places so far apart.
This is my A E S T H E T I C...
So let's drift down this lyin' memory lane.
Thinkin' of things so old and gone, it's lame.
Sittin' an' sinking into this old couch just like the same...
Graspin' for thoughts slipping through time.
It’s a new moon, which means I ended up trimming and re-layering my hair. >.> I feel like I trimmed it not too long ago, but it just always feels so nice after being trimmed. ;__;
Your skin is so nice 😍 can l ask what you use?
Hi Nonnie,
I actually cannot believe that you managed to sneak such a big compliment into such a short ask…but thank you!! Honestly, I would never be expected to be asked about anything beauty-related because I have never been especially interested in makeup, skincare, etc. But in the past couple years it became a nice thing that I could do for myself without breaking the bank. Which is to say, there are probably some truly excellent beauty blogs that could give you better advice and actually explain why it works. But I am happy to share!
First, I just have lucky genetics. I did nothing to deserve several things about my appearance, including nice skin. My friends roll their eyes hard because I will say things like “this is the first pimple I’ve had in 3 years!” with vague excitement. I also have a lucky metabolism - the other day I said to my friend “imagine what I’d look like if I worked out seriously!” and she was like “oh my god DON’T!”. Both these things are accidents of birth and my genetics are total rubbish in other ways (clinical depression, crippling anxiety, chronic fatigue syndrome) so we all win some and lose some. ANYWAY the point is that I did NOTHING for my skin for over 20 years and am maybe not to be trusted b/c I don’t know what other people’s skin chemistry is like.
But, mostly, what I use for my skin is sunscreen. Whether it’s a tinted moisturizer that has SPF in it or just sunscreen on its own it’s the #1 thing you can do to make your skin happy (and also prevent future skin cancer, which, score!). I started doing it because I am pale, pale, pale like a vampire who also lives underground. (My office is on a basement level so this isn’t too far off though I am not, in fact, a vampire. As far as I know.) I put it on my neck as well as my face because that skin is thin and sensitive too. You can spring for some nicer stuff to use on your face than you do for your limbs (I just go drug store brand on that as long as the SPF is high enough).
As for cleansers, I think the general rule is just something that doesn’t dry out your skin (like anything with lauryl sulfate). I like REN skincare products, though some of them are silly and don’t do anything. (Toner? Pffft! I will make you scented water that does the same thing.) It’s also very easy to find REN products more cheaply at other stores or on beauty websites. I’ve used the miropolish cleanser to exfoliate but, my friends, make sure you only exfoliate a couple times a week at most or else you will be rubbing too much of your face off! It’s pretty satisfying to do in the way that those pore strips are satisfying because you can look at it and go “ewwwww! all that was ON MY FACE?!?” which is a metric I like to use to rate beauty products. I’ve used their cleansers and they’re fine but I actually like Clinique rinse-off foaming cleanser (it’s all pink and has a nice texture when you use it…gels aren’t as nice). I use Simple brand makeup wipes to take off my tinted moisturizer (and eye makeup if I wear it) but I do also wash my face.
For moisturizers, I do have a night cream from REN that I LOVE A LOT but mostly b/c I find the scent calming. It’s the Frankincense night cream and I use it after I wash my face before I go to sleep like 40% of the time. (I forget most all of this except the sunscreen and facewash more days than I remember them.) For daytime, I have tinted moisturizer with SPF from Estee Lauder or just a sunscreen that is lightly citrusy (you can find nice face sunscreen at the drug store). And if you want a treat you can get face masks from BioRepublic which honestly seem like some kind of sorcery for how they make your skin glow.
All this could definitely add up. I built up a collection of stuff over a few years and a lot of it was stuff I had asked for as a gift from family members (or that I was given by friends who knew I wanted it). There are some good online deals, though, so if you know what you’re looking for you can lurk and find some to snatch up. And of course it’s all optional! I only do it because I enjoy it so I hope no one feels like this is all a “must have” beauty routine or something. If you don’t want to do the whole regime (which, again, I only do like 40% of the time) I’d say just treat yourself to a BioRepublic mask! You deserve it!! ❤️
