Live Music Venues in Mobile, AL
Alabama. Sweet Home ... Well, not my home, but someone has to live there. If you've ever heard the Jimmy Buffet version of "Stars Fell on Alabama" hear about it "phone, my hometown." Deep in the Heart of Dixie, Mobile is a beautiful coastal city of about Alabama 200,000 with a lot of live music venues hosting a variety of rock, country, blues, and other artists, both large and small. The website for mobile kitchen Alma (45 Dauphin Street, Phone: 251-433 -5958), said the party goes on "24 / 7." Events here include bands in a variety of styles ranging from rock to acoustic blues. Both original acts and cover / tribute bands play. Most of the variety acts are local, including bands with names like Friday Night Gigolos, Once, Karl Denson's Tiny Universe, and strut. Saenger Theater ((334) 438-5686 6 San Joaquin) is not for the performing arts, it seems, but "for the contemporary arts." Allrighty, then. Opened in 1927, as part of a chain (which had even then), the theater is currently owned by the city of Mobile. It houses 1,993 people. Along with civic events and comedy and drama, Saenger also hosts live music events. including the Mobile Symphony, Mobile Opera, gospel acts, jazz (Dr. John was scheduled to appear in early 2006 a benefit for New Orleans), oldies cover group, the country acts as Merle Haggard and the nationally recognized folk groups. Tickets for the event site are available through Ticketmaster. The Mobile Civic Center (401 Civic Center Drive, 251-208-7261), actually has two concert halls. According to the website, is "not uncommon that two very different events to be happening at the same time." Civic Center Theater holds 2000 people. Live music, including touring Broadway shows, opera and renowned artists as BB King. Mobile Symphony also performs on occasion. The Mobile Civic Center Arena is a much bigger celebration than 10,000 people and hosting concerts throughout the year include acts nationally known gospel, rock bands such as Don Henley and children's programs. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster. TP Crockmier's (170 S. Florida Street, 251) from 476 to 1890) not only has an impressive name that sounds like an insult (not to be so crockmier ...) but also has live rock music on weekends and open mic 's every Wednesday. It is a restaurant / bar, so the emphasis is on food. The bands are local. Forwarned Sea there is also a karaoke night. Live events are the liquid capacity of 150 (661 Dauphin St., 432 to 0109), which has jazz on Wednesday when the configuration of the vibration made (no coverage.) Other live acts, including rock bands local. Veet (66 Royal St.) has live music on Thursdays and weekends and acoustic sessions on Wednesdays. Also with live music every weekend is The Garage (9 S. Washington Ave., (334) from 433 to 2.223). Alabama can not be the musical Mecca of Louisiana, Tennessee or some other southeastern states are, but has a lot of music. The coastal city of Mobile is just a city where blues, jazz, rock and even Broadway and classical music is not for mass consumption.
