3/8/16 Something very scary happened to me on Tuesday, March 8, 2016. There was supposed to be really nasty weather coming through Louisiana so all the area schools decided to close in order to keep every one safe. When the schools close, my place of employment closes too, so we got today (Wednesday) off. At 5 o'clock on Tuesday, I was driving home. The roads were slightly damp from a light drizzle, but they were damp enough for my truck to lose traction and spin 180 degrees when I tried to turn onto the on ramp to get on the interstate. I hit a road sign and knocked it over, scuffing the passenger side of the truck and busting the front passenger tire. Due to the placement of the sign under the truck, the dampness of the grass, and the incline of the shoulder I was parked on, I couldn't move the truck without sliding into traffic. I called my boyfriend, who is a firefighter, and he came down to help. He called his boss, who sent one of his coworkers because they were closer than he was. I didn't get the chance to call 911 before a police officer stopped. They got in touch with a wrecker service, who came out and, after probably half an hour of easing and finagling, got the truck on the wrecker and towed it to the tire shop Ben works at. He changed the blown tire in less than 20 minutes and we made our way home. It could have been so much worse. I could have hit another vehicle, the truck could have flipped. Within minutes of my ordeal, I watched another truck begin to lose control but regain himself without hitting anything. No one was behind me when it happened, so no one else hit me. The truck was completely off the road way, even if it was facing the wrong direction. It could have been so much worse. I was very shaken up, but I'm beyond thankful that God was watching over me and protecting me. All it took was a matter of seconds. The tire could been replaced, the truck could have been replaced if necessary (even though it wasn't my truck, which was stressing me out enough already), but my life could not have been replaced.
