@vohskyfire
warming up to the squid kid!
kirby has a very special message for you!
Thank you Matt for six years of laughs
Thank you Pat for six years of laughs, rage and surprisingly keen insight.
Thank you Woolie for six years of laughs and awesomeness.
Thank you Liam for six years of fun and laughs.
Thank you Super Best Friends for the best six years of my life.
More than anything else, I’ll always remember the Super Best Friends as the guys I could rely on to drag me out of a shitty mood. Any time I was ever feeling down in the past 5 years or so, I most likely went straight to their channel and watched video after video until I’d forgotten all about why was I upset.
It always worked, too. I’m most thankful for that.
Super Best Friends Ending is the Bad Ending of Youtube Channels

“We expected nothing, and you delivered everything.”
I’m gonna miss the zaibatsu, god speed
Finale
I never thought I’d see this day. Not once did it enter the back of mind that one of my favorite Youtube channels would eventually halt and stop making let’s plays. Realistically, I knew. But I never once believed that it would happen. Especially with the way that it did.
For those of you who are wondering what I’m talking about, Super Best Friends Play, aka one of the best let’s play channels ever, is ending. The video they put up today began with a very sad and somber Woolie, informing us that the channel was indeed ending. Not just because of the business aspect of it, but also because Matt and Pat aren’t really friends anymore.
That bit right there. Hurt me a bit. The two of them not being friends anymore, despite their differences, really caught me off guard. I guess when it comes down to it, the signs of them not really enjoying each other’s company were there, but no one truly wanted to believe it.
I still remember when I first found the channel too, it was one of Matt’s “Matt Buys too Much Crap” videos. That lead me to his and Pat’s iconic Silent Hill: DownPour LP. One of the very first LPs I even bothered to full watch through. I connected with them because, they were like me. They loved good stuff, hated bad stuff, and knew how to make good jokes about the bad things in a video game.
Then they brought Woolie into the mix, a third man to this party, with Super Best Friends Brawl. One of the funniest salty game series ever made, which eventually was replaced by Friday Night Fisticuffs. While he might be a bumbling goofball at times, Woolie was always one I looked forward to hearing in a video.
Then the fourth man, Liam, was brought aboard. While I may not have always agreed with Liam’s view points on things, especially the PSVita, he knew his stuff. And he always was the one that was able to argue Pat back and make him look like a fool.
For years, these guys brought me a lot of laughs. Especially in 2014-15/6 when I was going through pretty bad part of my life that I’d rather not talk, or mention, again. If you’ve been following me for that long, you probably know what I am talking about.
Then came the end of 2016. Liam announcing that he was leaving the channel. Omikron nearly KILLED the friendship between the original trio, and Trump was going to be President. It felt like the dagger of the finale had been stabbed into the chest of the channel, but no one truly knew or wanted to believe that.
For two years the channel remained true to what it was. Dumb LPs with a lot of laughs and a lot of great moments in games. Hell, when I saw that they were doing Kingdom Hearts 1, one of my all time favorite video games ever, I got really excited to see what stupidity could be had from Matt and Woolie, and their reactions to certain moments in that game.
And then today.
What really hurts the most though is just, the fact that Matt and Pat aren't friends anymore. It’s ironic. The two guys who started the channel’s popularity, the two guys who basically gave life to Two Best Friends Play, two guys who had polar opposite views on certain things, but got along anyway, are no longer friends. That just, doesn’t feel nor sound right to anyone. I get that friends have falling outs, but at times you could tell that Matt and Pat were basically like brothers. Hell, you would have thought that they were actually blood brothers by the way they were hanging out and making jokes with one another that was on key.
I don’t think I’m gonna point fingers at one of the trio and blame anyone for the fall of the channel. The less drama there is about that, the better. But it saddens me to hear that the youtube channel that helped me out of a bad depression in my life, a channel that introduced me to so many games and franchises, is now coming to an end.
To that I say this.
@realestmatt and @excelsioryuken, and even Pat (I don’t think he has a tumblr) you guys were some of the best dudes someone could watch and have a good time with. I’m sorry for a lot of the crap some fans threw at you in videos, especially KH1 and the Souls series, and I am truly sorry to hear that you guys aren’t doing Super Best Friends Play anymore. You guys to me, will always be the hypest dudes on youtube.
Thank you so much for many years of laughter, for many years of introducing me to new things, and for broadening my interests more than I would have known.
You said you gave us nothing? No. You gave us so many things. Thank you, all of you.
Time for Childhood for you 90s/Early 2000s kids
My fucking childhood in one post omg the only thing missing is Star Wars and Disney.
I forgot those damn BLUE CUBE BLOCKS that was meant to “help” with math. It only added pressure when I dropped them and couldn’t find a block to get. the. right. answer!
OMG KID PIX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How is it possible that we all have the same exact childhood?!
Bring me back my childhood dammit! I call do over
hh
I still have my Spacemaker.
Well, half of it. I had to replace the top half because it got a crack. It’s about six feet away from me. I looked it up on Amazon, and there’s lots of knockoffs. People are selling them on eBay and Etsy.
We didn’t have iMacs. We had Amigas - you heard me - which got upgraded to modern NEC desktops running Win 98 or something in the middle of term. They had a little Einstein animated assistant that I promptly tried to reverse engineer.
And then they moved us to the other computer lab, running Windows 3.1.
Or maybe the 3.1 lab was first, idk.
Come to think of it, I still have my favorite metal sharpener from high school. I mostly use penknives these days, but still.
Oh, and I’m not even from the US, but I still recognize a lot of this stuff.
God, the Blaster series was my JAM.
THIS WILL NOT BE A KH3 LEAK SPOILED FILLED BLOG
You who still follow me will be safe until next month.
What caused the deaths of these, you may ask? Corporate mandates.
Not because the technology wasn’t there.
Not because there were no good ideas left.
And not because of budget issues.
These were all (Except for Toys R Us) cancelled because asshole executives wanted them cancelled.
All of them, sans the Archie comics, were terrible losses.
only americans know the true pain of hearing this
Imagine kid you watching your favorite kids’ network. It goes to commercial. Every single time it cuts to commercial this whole thing plays in its entirety. You’ve seen it so much you know every word, every piece of music, all the words and the exact entonation in which they say it
That’s hell. Having the Shirley temple little darling dvd collection commercial permanently ingrained in your brain.
it has been many years since i have seen this commercial, and i can recite it word for word. op, what have you done
Don’t ship real people. They’re not characters, they’re not your public property no matter how famous. They are REAL HUMAN BEINGS. Don’t be a creep.
uhh you can still ship real people
Nah.
Creep.
I literally can’t get myself to ship characters from live actions, because even though they’re characters, they’re played by real people and I can’t go there.
y’all need to take it down a notch if a famous person who makes millions of dollars a year is big upset about people drawing them givin their costar road head they can hire a therapist and complain about that to them
wow 8D
Okay fine @emkaniff please imagine someone drawing you giving your coworkers head and posting it all over the Internet then talk to me about whether calling a therapist is your biggest problem with it.
It costs $0 to respect a human being and not treat them like a living cartoon character.
Who were those two young actors that had their friendship ruined by the awkardness after people wouldn’t stop writing straight up porn of them screwing each other?
Two of the kids from Stranger Things, iirc.
Let’s also not forget how uncomfortable it makes some people feel. Look at Markiplier and JackSecpticeye. They have made it clear multiple times they don't like each other that way, in fact I think Shawn’s actually married now, and have begged their fans to not ship them together.
And people still do it.
Petting disgusting if you ship actual human beings together and make them feel uncomfortable.
Sorry can’t come in today, it’s a national holiday
pokemon lets go pikachu and eevee: *is a spinoff game, doesn’t have core title mechanics, and strays from the formula a bit*
people well outside of the game’s target age demographic:
And it’s probably the best iteration of Generation 1.
Ignore the nay sayers.
