so sometimes I adore interracial relationship headcanons and other times I can't deal.

because like, do you understand how stressful it is to be in an interracial relationship at times? the mental gymnastics that happens if you break up, the not mentioning elephants in the room, the problematic mentioning of elephants in the room, the lack of productive conversation about the elephants.

Especially if you're a queer person of color in a mostly white, cis-heteronormative space (read: everywhere), every gay black cis man I have had the privilege to call a friend has told me how much they hate being black and hate themselves for being black. Add in dysphoria and trans status and whoaaa. It gets really fucked up.

Interracial relationships are mad fucking stressful at times and I hate how in fanfiction, either everyone's white or the "ugly character" is the non-white one, and no one brings any of this up.

edit: I have read a lot of exr fanfiction and I don't think I've ever come across one where they were both people of color. Fixing this now.
