Raven didn’t leave the labratory for a while. It might have been even days at this point. She could feel a headache build up, but tried to push it away in order to be able to focus. The girl put down the screwdriver to pinch the bridge of her nose adn rub her temple. As she heard the footsteps approach she tensed up. “Unless you are here to help, don’t even bother.” Raven didn’t look up, she didn’t need to, there was no need in knowing who it was, as her words would have been the same anyway.
Every second she was not wroking the Death Wave was getting closer and their chances were getting slimmer to survive, so she considerred every second she didn’t spend working a wasted one. She knew she could do it, this wasn’t the first time she figured out how to save them, and this won’t be the last time - she just needed a little more time. Unfortunatelly time was something they didn’t have. With a frustrated sigh she picked up the screwdriver and threw it across the labratory.
“Mother, so much time has gone by since...” Her words trailed off, finding difficulty in finishing her sentence. It had been over a year since she lost her, but each one those days she missed her dearly. Each and every day, she thought of her mother - be it because of her many duties as a Queen - wishing she had her to seek advice from, wishing she was here for guidance - or simply because a memory entered her mind. Memories from before everything changed, from when they were happy.
“As you know, our home has been rebuilt. As well as Lindblum and Burmecia,” She smiled, her heart full of so much joy just thinking about it. The citizens of each Kingdom worked tirelessly, day and night, until their homes were rebuilt and even assisted the other Kingdoms - coming together as one to help each other. But this wasn’t new information - each time something of great importance happened, Dagger took time to visit her mother and tell her. And other times, she just...wanted to be near her. To talk with her, to smile, to laugh, to cry...to express her frustrations, to express her concerns. It was comforting for her even though her mother couldn’t speak to her in return, even though her mother couldn’t hug and console her, to wipe her tears or to make her laugh even more, just being here comforted Dagger.
“Our Kingdom is doing wonderfully. I wish you could see it,” She smiled, her eyes filling with tears as she took in a deep breath. “I feel as though I’m doing well as Queen, Mother.” Her smile turned proud and her hands came together. “I have you and father to thank for that. As well as Steiner, Beatrix, Dr. Tot...” Her smile grew. “Zidane, Freya, Vivi, Eiko...” All of them. They all helped her become the person, and Queen, that she was today. Yes, she knew a lot of it was herself too, but so much she owed to all of them.
She let out that deep breath and placed her hand upon the gravestone. “I miss you, so much...and father, too...” And then came the tears, as they always did. “But I know you both are still with me, still helping guide me and there whenever I need to speak with you. Thank you, Mother.” And with that, she pressed a kiss to the stone before laying down the few roses she brought with her. “I love you. Happy Mother’s Day.”
