I'm reading "The Goth Bible," by Nancy Kilpatrick.
It's an interesting overview of the subculture, but the author's biases are sometimes concerning
-"Self-identified as bisexual, despite being practicing heterosexuals" (can't find the page with the exact quote)
-"Industrial/military [goth fashion] often embraces a German-soldier quality, and a style with even a vague hint of Nazi Germany can frighten nongoths. A shaven head accentuates this connection. It is the power inherent in industry and military that matters, not the politics. This is pure aesthetic-- goth at its simplest and most masculine, salt-of-the-earth, no nonsense. What you see is what you get." (Pp 34)
-"Of course, not all goths are WASPs (White Anglo-Saxon Protestants), but goths of color like paler skin too--- it seems to be in the goth gene." (Pp 51)
.
Call me crazy, but I think that adopting the aesthetics of Nazi Germany, and thus signalling an association with Nazis, is a political statement. And not a good one.
Also, I've seen Black goths online pushing back against racism and colorism within the subculture. I believe the phrase "So Goth our/my skin is Black" was used. So that comment on Page 51 is. Bad.
I found this song, uh, yesterday? And I've been listening to it on repeat ever since, and it just gives me such clones vibes that I spent the entire afternoon today translating it. I used a new dictionary (many thanks to @johamur for the links!) which made translating it significantly easier than the one I was using before, although since Mando'a has no word for surrender, I did have to get, uh, extremely creative with my meanings in the second verse XD I also reversed one line because it just... didn't make sense for the clones otherwise.
As always, any advice, feedback, and general linguistics flailing is more than welcome! (Though, please be gentle, I haven't gone over this as much as I should have, since I finished it in... three hours?)
Here's the song:

Another day without Dylan spitting or cumming in my mouth. 🥺
Not to make another ask, it seems you got a real hunk for a husband. 🥴
The suffering continues, huh?
Catch me throwin' an absolute FIT.
You think I've got a hunky hubs? Just basing it on my tags? I think I did post something recently where I said his forearms looked pretty much exactly like Dylan's (which is true). They have some similar features, and some that are different, but yes, my hubs is pretty fucking handsome. He's also...skilled ;)
I ask myself every day why he decided to tie himself down to a literal potato, and after 12 years, I still can't figure it out. He pretty.
