The first chapter of Coil's backstory is up for viewing! Feedback is appreciated if anyone feels like giving it a read!
Human!Coil (Coco Delilah Becile, "CD" for short)
<.) & >°) How do we look in our human clothes?
Tick. Tick. Tick. Tick.
Coil wasn’t certain how long it had been. How many hundreds of thousands of ticks she had listened to as they marched on from the clock that hung on the wall. She didn’t have any functionality, merely existing. Had it been years? Decades? It wasn’t clear how long she had been sitting there. A long time.
Sudden glaring light struck her photoreceptors and she shut her eyes to defend against it. The voices spoke to her, but she had trouble sorting out what was being said. It had been so long since she’d listened to anyone.
“I asked you a question: you still operating?” A woman stood over her, a clipboard in her hand.
Coil opened her mouth to speak, only to be greeted by silence. She had sang to herself for years, but after so long in silence and disrepair she could do little but stare in desperation. She hadn’t any coal or water left in her, being powered solely by her core now. Useless.
The woman tutted, scribbling something on her pad and looking toward the two silhouettes in the doorway. “Bring her up. I’m sure we can make something useful from her.”
Hands reached down, grabbing her. Where were they–
“Coil?” Circuit’s hands were on her shoulders, gently shaking her. “Coco, do you hear me?”
“I-I hear you. Sorry. Was, uh, going through memories. You know how it is.” She brushed his hands off, taking a moment to settle herself before standing up. “We’re moving on, yeah? New place. New faces. Don’t worry.”
Circuit watched her, but didn’t dare question her. Whatever it was she had been reliving, he didn’t want to ask her. She didn’t need to handle harsh memories more than she already did on her own. “Let’s find a nice place with some more people.” He took her hand between his, engulfing the light from the back of it.
He could keep her safe. He had to.
