❝ After five years, you’re still Becky . ❞ Garrett to Becky ;D
"Only 'cause you're still you," said Becky. It was one of those nights: cold, muggy, winter break in full swing. As per usual, the Flynn family had been happy to invite Garrett to spend his vacation with them. Mum and Dad had retired after dinner and now it was just the kids, well, legal adults now, hanging out in the yard. Becky couldn't sleep, so she was glad Garrett had let her drag him out here to stand out in the chill and shoot the breeze.
"Of course, everything is about to change now...I can't believe this is our last winter break. Everyone says I should be elated, I just got offered a Quidditch contract...and don't get me wrong, I am! I'm just...gonna miss school is all."
And the very engaged Pureblood boy she'd started sneaking around the corridors with...
"And...and all my friends."
There, it sounded less incriminating when she said it that way.
"But I think I can keep from letting the fame go to my head if you keep in contact and keep being the same Garrett. You, and Billie and Sterling...and Will..."
She coughed a little on her own words before changing the subject:
"Sterling told me he got hired at the newspaper; I'm happy for him. He's always been obsessed with the news. I couldn't do it myself; you'll never catch me dead in a desk job. It's a good fit for him, though. I just hope that crusty slag Larissa Tate doesn't give him too much trouble at the office. God, remember having to deal with her at school? There's one person I definitely won't miss."
