MEET DRONNINGEN
DRONNINGEN are a London-based electro-rock assault squad.
Formed in August 2014, the four-piece band currently consists of Beatrice Bonnano on lead vocals/guitar (Italy), Vito Cerasia on lead guitar (Italy), Amélie Gerbet on drums (France), and Wai Ting So on bass (Hong Kong).
Regardless of their cultural differences, they all landed in the UK with a common goal: to make music for a living. Above all, they’re highly determined, impassioned and hungry for live shows!
Dronningen’s debut EP Royal Riot came out in 2016, comprised of 3 songs showcasing their early approach to electro-rock music.
After extensive gigging in London, Derby, Leeds, Southampton, Basingstoke, Reading and beyond, the band is now prepared to release their brand new Sugarbox EP (June 2017).
Three new original songs (“Sugarbox,” “Taxi Driver,” “White Saliva”) and a bonus track (“She’s Gone Insane”) capture the raw energy of their live shows.
Compared to their previous release, the band’s sound has changed noticeably, shifting from the digitally polished tunes of the past to a more primal, organic and wild sonic palette.
Their electronic components have not disappeared, but Dronningen’s human element grows stronger with their newest record.
Sugarbox represents a new balance between the vulnerable nature of mortals and the cold perfection of machines.
The band says:
"Each song on the e.p. is a chapter of a journey: two bodies, two minds, two souls crossing each other’s path. They are not conscious of the consequences, they ignore what will be the outcome of this collision, they may not always be completely synchronized. We are trying to chronicle the whole experience without letting negative elements overwhelm our travelers. Ultimately this is the embodiment, the truest sonic rendition of what we believe in.
Meet One Hundred Thousand
A good band can deliver a great show. A great band can deliver an unforgettable experience. One Hundred Thousand is a great band. One Hundred Thousand’s debut full-length album, The Forms In Which They Appear, was released May 14, 2016. Fusing transcendent musicianship with a kinetic live presence, One Hundred Thousand hammers its considerable progressive influences into a sharp, polished hard rock edge. But it’s not just the band’s live show that’s drawing in new fans. Their combination of heavy rock battery and prog rock intricacy is framed by impressive individual performances and an ultimate devotion to creating memorable songs. The first to leap through One Hundred Thousand’s synthesized electronic veil is guitarist Alex Goldenthal, striking a rare balance of technical command with a colorful palette of tones. Goldenthal electrifies with singable leads and tasty solos. The rhythm section with drummer Kurt Wubbenhorst and bassist Andrew Magnotta drives the songs with neck-snapping rhythms that reinforce the music’s melodic integrity. The final piece of this prog-with-a-punch quartet is singer Rich Matos, whose vocal acrobatics are buoyed by his impressive range and gritty rock charisma. Matos has the uncommon ability to adapt with ease to both aggressive and subdued sections. Elevating these songs even further is the vocal production and veteran finesse of Clint Lowery (Sevendust and Dark New Day). While the band members impress on their own, proof of their musicianship is found in the collective polish of their sound. Unlike some debuting progressive acts, each member of One Hundred Thousand is playing only to serve the song. “Creating something greater than the sum of its parts is a common goal for the band and of mine in general,” says drummer and chief songwriter Wubbenhorst. “Having outstanding individual parts are great, but when it comes together as something greater than yourself – that’s why we do what we do.” Wubbenhorst is also a co-owner of Architekt Music, in Butler, NJ, which is home to music education, a live venue, artist management and a recording studio under one roof. Architekt serves as a home base to One Hundred Thousand. It’s also where Sevendust’s three latest releases were recorded, as well as recent releases from bands like Three Years Hollow, Thank You Scientist, Call Me No One, Candlelight Red, and many more.
Dongle started taking shape when rhythm guitarist Rob Howard and bassist Blake Hegar started jamming on Thursday nights as a way of decompressing from what life threw their way. Thinking that they might want to do something more with this musical endeavor, they brought in a friend and drummer Derek Davis whom they'd met a few years earlier at a party (go figure). A few months later, Derek’s friend, Cameron Bostedt brought his awesome guitar skills to the band. With 5 years under his belt, but never in a band setting, he was excited to give it a shot. Once they started writing their own music and realizing their potential, they knew they were on to something. So with the sole purpose of making their own style of rock music, they jumped in head first. With 4 completely different musical styles and backgrounds, a different kind of sound began to take shape. From Punk to metal, country to progressive rock and everything in between, Dongle developed a sound and writing style that is unique and will have you singing along. In May of 2016, Cameron decided to leave the band due to other obligations. On July 2, we had our first show without him where we announced Rick Ciampi as our new lead guitarist. Blake decided to leave the band in late 2016 for personal reasons. Now we have brought in Victor DeLeon to play bass. You will be hearing a new sound from Dongle very soon
