Gustav Lindh
Watched Dronningen after seeing you guys talk about it on here and WOW, that film is devastating. It was a rollercoaster, I wasn’t sure what I was supposed to be feeling until the movie knocked me on my ass with what a self-indulgent monster Anne turned out to be. Very good movie actually; it surprised me. I also found the conversations in Danish and Swedish very interesting and this is the first time I’ve been half able to understand Danish 😂
It is a very disturbing but very good movie!! It was also praised a lot when it premiered in Denmark, but also very controversial (because of the explicitness)... And I love Gustav Lindh ☺️
It's always fun how danish/swedish productions make it seem like every household always contain both swedes and Danes... And they never speak the same language, but always understand each other.
Her fra bloggen siger vi mange gange TELØK til Hendes Majestæt Farmor, og toogfirs gange hurra! Er i klar?
... Det tænkte jeg nok.
Vi nøjes med en lille sang:
Den traditionsrige fødselsdagsparade i anledning af Hendes Majestæt Dronningens fødselsdag bød på musik og hurraråb, da Dronningen og Kronpr
what are some of your favorite films? ngl i'm trying to figure out a movie that has the same ~mood~ of your fics and coming short. help?
oh man, whenever this question comes up i always draw a blank, even though i've seen and loved so many movies, but! for once i do have 2 recs (and mind you, these are "my fics" kind of recs, not for general viewing):
1. the first one that i watched last year was a Danish film called "queen of hearts" ("dronningen"). it's about an older woman who begins a tumultuous affair with her much younger stepson and it deals with the fallout of their affair. honestly, i initially gravitated towards it because of that excellent scenario (and i mean, Seneca and Racine would both hi5 me on it), but the movie turned out to be so much more than that. it was an absolutely heart-breaking and searing exploration of desire and abuse, and how power dynamics between adults and adolescents, even older teens, can be so insidious and can render the young person so vulnerable. it's a very smart film that doesn't let you make up your mind and constantly forces you to re-evaluate the images on screen. it's also pretty hot ngl
2. the second one that i rewatched in the pandemic cuz it's so good is called "homesick" (2015). it's a Norwegian film about a pair of half-siblings who grow up apart and then meet as adults, and the brother is super resentful towards her for various familial reasons, but the tension between them is...incredibly hot. and they do eventually give into their feelings. it's aaa-mazing. yes, there is quite a bit of sex, but like the first movie, it goes a lot deeper into the pitfalls of family and desire. it's way less heartbreaking than "queen of hearts" and it has a relatively bittersweet/happy ending, but it does make you feel "homesick" in a way.
the common theme with both of these movies is that they take sort of trashy/taboo scenarios and give them a lot of insight and meaning? which i hope is what i do in my fics (i mean yes, we over-indulge too, but you get my point lol)
also my good taste sis, @irresistible-revolution watched both of them with me, so she's as guilty as i am!
