Well, since I’ve never been anywhere close to an ocean (to my great sadness) I’ll have to say pools.

first off, fireproof is my savior and infinity is my ot5 mindmeld so wtf !!!

but also honestly it just feels rude to the true spirit of 1d tbqh. 

like can you get off to s.s.? yeah i guess, okay lmfao. but does it fill you with that strange, singular burgeoning sort of found family love and joy that we all give and receive from 1d? is it the best song, lyrically, vocally, musically, in arrangements, in studio, live? does the song represent the growth and development of 1d as a musical group and as individuals with their own strengths coming together to be one unique beautiful thing?

i’d just like to point out that the first time they performed s.s., after everyone’s goddawful clawing and crying for it - none of them knew the words at all. 

now, the first time they performed fireproof (and also infinity) ? that was Something Else. that was magic.

supernatural creatures AU or friends to lovers :)

this is a really hard question, amanda and i should have known you would go for something difficult tsk!!!! <3

i thiiink i like the potential that goes along with supernatural creatures, the tendency for people to question more of the world or the narrative and try new things, but often you don’t get that really. there is sorta a formulaic methodology for supernatural creatures now and that makes me a bit sad and less likely to read. 

whereas, friends to lovers works for anything and is applicable in every au and comes about in so many fun and fantastical methods. like you could have characters bond over a talking toothpick in a magical realism(leven thumps) or over moral tension of neutrality vs apathy at a space fighting school (blade dancer) or over a sticky morning counter in a diner overflowing with one night standers :’)) that’s so cool to me, i love that we can see love in so many places and through so many stories. i do find, however, that i’m not always interested in the story of the How The Romance Happened, just because often it falls into the hallmark hell, so.

it’s complicated! i think if i had to, had to choose, i would say friends to lovers, just as the more reliable choice, but some of the more compelling stories are supernaturals.
