Once he's opened up and become gym leader in Opal's place, he actually doesn't mind. In fact, he actually craves it. So long as you don't go overboard and smother him that is. A chaste kiss or a nice long hug are all things he loves.

For Bede, it's often simple things, like buying you small gifts or snacks. He struggles often with showing affection if any kind, even after he opens up. But the most frequent way he shows he loves you is when he holds your hand and gives it a gentle squeeze.

In the beginning Bede is too self absorbed and cocky to fall in love with someone. His walls are up due to abandonment issues and he doesn't want to risk being abandoned and alone again. It's only after Opal starts training him that his walls start to come down and he opens up that he realizes he might have feelings for someone.

Bede was probably 15 or 16 when he had his first kiss. He waited awhile and chose to wait until he really knew his partner. To know they would accept his vulnerability and wouldn't take advantage of him. He's been through enough and wants his first emotional experiences to be with someone he knows cares about him.
