Songbird!
At the End of the Day - (from Les Mis) composed by Claude-Michel Schonberg
Dystopian Observer AU
You are a new scientist who has just filled the position of ‘Chronicler’ for a very prestigious lab facility. You aren’t sure what kinds of duties you have to do as a ‘Chronicler’ but the staff tells you you’re perfect for the job any way. You are informed that all you have to do is watch multiple tv screens of several groups of people and record any events you deem as ‘important.’ You don’t know which people you’re observing but you think this position isn’t too bad… or is it worse?
As you watch the television screens you realize that the place you’re observing is Neo America - the country that no one talks about since it’s the only area in the world that’s in discord. Strangely, the population is dominated by teenagers rioting against the tyranny of the adults. But wait…you recognize someone from the crowd of teenagers. They remind you of a childhood friend you played with several years ago and never saw again. You think they would be around your age if you met them again.
Kind of unusual but do you decide to accept the task as Chronicler knowing you will get good pay (you don’t even know Neo American people anyway) or is there something amidst in your new workplace. What if that face in the crowd was your long lost childhood friend?
