hiii :) im hearing and from what i know, ASL, like many other languages, does not use english articles and certain tenses (forgive me if im wrong, im basing this off my 3 ASL classes). so i was wondering if some Deaf/HOH people who use ASL and know english have trouble with things like a/an/the and -ed/-ing? or does it just depend on the person? thank you for your blog btw. youre educating a lot of hearing people :)
It true ASL doesn’t use the fillers or certain tenses.
This depends on how each individual was brought up. Some Deaf/HOH do struggle with the tenses, endings, and structure. But most are good with the differences and writing.
Example, Even though I grew up deaf oral, learning English, I started learning ASL a few years ago... to this day I sometimes STILL struggle with certain endings and grammar structure in English (mostly structure).
This really depends on each person though. Because not all Deaf/HOH struggle with English or said spoken language, there are many who are fantastic with it.
top five weird habits you have
1. Rewrite notes when I mess up
2. When a book/show is getting good I have to stop reading/watching to prepare myself
3. I always look have to look at the teacher when they are lecturing
4. I love to organize to messy stuff, I get a weird rush when doing so
5. I talk to myself - alot.
Once you get this you have to say five good things about yourself publicly, then send it to 10 of your favorite followers. Positivity rocks!
These are so hard…
I’m pretty easy to get along with
I become friends with basically everyone I meet.
I’m not as ignorant as most other people my age.
I really like my teeth.
I love my hair.
