Dean hasn't thought about his old friend Castiel Milton in months. Though they were close in college, they've drifted apart since Cas moved to New York after graduation. But then one little Instagram post brings all of Dean's memories flooding back, and he finds himself wishing he'd had the courage to tell Cas how he really felt about him before he left.
God, he's being dramatic about this whole thing. Dean's just going to blame it on the bees.
One thing I love about our Fandom is the never ending number of fics we have, for pretty much in any flavor you're looking for. Genres and all the tropes you can come up with aside, what if you're in the mood to curl up with something meaty, 100k or more, something that will pull you into another world and keep you there? We’ve got a fic for that. Or maybe you're looking for something short and sweet, a quick hit of dopamine before you go about your day, or one to end it.
Naked and covered in bees is one of those fics. Short and sweet, this fic starts with Dean coming across a photo of Cas on Instagram where he is, you guessed it, naked and covered in bees. At this point in their lives, they haven’t spoken for years, drifting apart after graduating college, where Dean harbored a secret crush on his friend. It roars to life when he sees the photo, which he knows he has to ignore, considering Cas lives in New York, while Dean still lives in Kansas.
Until Dean finds out that Cas is back and staying in his brother Gabriel’s spare room. The rest, as they say, is fanfic history. This fic is cute and sweet, with just the right amount of pining flashbacks to satisfy any cravings. Don’t miss this one!

Castiel lay asleep on the bed, blankets thrown off because it had been a warm night. Your eyes trailed down his strong back, all the way to the waistband of his boxer shorts before moving back up again, watching it raise and fall with his shallow breaths. Smiling softly, you slipped from the bed, threw on some clothes, and left the room.
You stood at the fence, the oversized work shirt, and cut off jean shorts allowed the slight breeze to cool your skin. You stood there quietly watching one of the cows as she moved slowly, not too far from where you stood. She let out a low moo, and you smiled to yourself. “Tell me about it, Bess.”
Suddenly, there was footsteps behind you, and then the sound of a gun cocking. Turning, you saw Sam, with his shotgun drawn and ready. When he saw your face, the gun lowered and he shook his head at you before coming closer.
“The shotgun?”
“Thought you might be rustlers.”
“Rustlers?” You chuckled. “Wasn’t aware your farm was in the 1800’s.” you teased.
“Hey, it’s still a problem in Canada, okay? You never know.” He leaned his shotgun against the fence post before he leaned on the fence himself right next to you, crossing his feet. “What are you doing here this early, anyways?”
“Thought maybe you could use some help.”
Sam glanced down at his watch before moving it towards you. “It’s 4:37 in the damn morning. Not even I’m up that early.”
“Shit, sorry.” you put your head down on your arms. “Sorry if I woke you.”
“Technically, Lucky did.” You looked up at him. “He was about halfway out my bedroom window. Idiot almost got stuck on the roof trying to get out here to you.”
“Sorry.” you gave off a small chuckle, picturing the dog half way through the window, likely with his tail wagging like crazy. You wondered if it would have hit Sam in the face as he slept.
“So what are you doing out here this early.” he asked again.
You shrugged. “Just hanging out with my girl Bess.” you motioned out to the pregnant cow. You had left the city behind and finally moved in with Castiel months ago, not long after Bess had gotten pregnant.
“Mhm.” Sam watched her too. “I promised Joy she could name the calf when it comes. I’m going to regret that, aren’t I?”
“Probably.”
You were both quiet for a bit, but Sam broke the silence after a few minutes. “You going to tell me what’s wrong?”
“Nothing’s wrong.”
“Then tell me what’s bothering you.”
“Nothing is-”
“You’re staring at a cow at 4 in the morning. Something is bothering you. Must be something serious if you didn’t just take a horse and go for a ride like everyone else does.” You looked at him confused. “You know how many times I wake up to a horse missing and my brothers truck out front? A lot. What is it?”
You sighed and looked at the cows again. “We’re friends right?”
“Mhm.” Sam hummed.
“Are we secret keeping kinda friends?” You looked up at him worried.
His brow furrowed. “Yeah.. though, if you’re planning on leaving Cas, you should probably just talk to him..”
“No, no it’s not that. He’s..” you smiled. “He’s perfect. Not just for me, but… for Joy. I’m scared to fuck it up, actually.”
“I don’t think you could do that. He loves you. What’s wrong?” he asked you once more.
Licking your lips you tried to drop the hint without outright saying the words. The words would make it all too real and you were still processing. “Bess and I.. We’ve got something in common.”
“You-” He tried to think it through, he looked out over at the grazing cow, and then back at you then out at the cow again. “Oh shit.. You’re-”
“Yeah.”
Sam ran his hand through his hair and let out a huff. “Okay, and?”
“And?” you looked up at him in disbelief. “It’s too soon, Sam. I- I don’t even know if he wants kids. I don't even know if I want more kids. After shit with Joy’s dad I just…” you shrugged. “I never considered more. And Cas and I, we never had a talk about it. What if-”
Sam straighten up to his full height again, grabbing your shoulders and turning you to face him. “Hey.” he waited until your eyes met his. “First of all, relax.” You gave him a small nod. “Good. Now, here’s what we’re going to do, okay? We’re going inside, and I’m going to make you breakfast. You’re going to leave Cas a message that you’re here, and we’re going to eat. We can eat in silence, or you can talk to me, and we’ll figure out how to tell him. But you have to tell him.”
“I know.” you nodded.
“No matter what you two decide, I’m here for you. Not just Cas, but you too.”
You nodded again, tearing up as you wrapped your arms around him. “Thank you, Sam.”
“Anytime. Now come on, lets get some breakfast.” You let him go and wiped your face on your sleeve with a sniffle. “Bright side to being up this early? Dean’s coming over later for breakfast. You’ll actually get to see the food before he scoffs it all down.”
You chuckled, and let him wrap an arm around your shoulder as he lead you to the house. “Don’t tell Dean yet.”
“You kidding? He can’t keep a secret.” Sam shook his head. “By the time you got back to your house, he’d already have your nursery built and ready to go.”
“So if he offers?”
“Oh yeah. Take him up on it.”

When Castiel’s long-time ‘secret’ admirer, Dean Winchester, gives him one-too-many anonymous roses, he decides it’s time to nudge the man into an admission.
When Dean Winchester’s neighbour and long-time crush, Castiel, hints at his feelings for Dean, he decides maybe it’s time to cut the crap and ask the man out.
With a date that’s sweet as honey and warm as wine, Dean’s wondering why he ever doubted himself in the first place.
Now, I know that the whole Cas and bees thing is born from fanfic and headcanons, but who can deny that it’s probably one of the better ones our fandom has come up with? There are even entire bangs centered around the idea, which is how I found this sweet as honey fic.
Buzzed is all about bakery/bar owner Cas who owns the shop next to Dean’s flower shop, where, from his roof, he can watch his neighbor nervously pick out the perfect flowers to deliver to him, all under the guise that Castiel has a secret admirer. Cas is extra sweet about it when he gives Dean the nudge he needs to encourage him to make a move.
What results is a fluffy first date between them that you won’t want to miss, especially if you’re looking for something especially soft and honey-sweet. Dean is adorable as well, but you’ll have to click to read about the bouquet he makes, each flower picked out just for Cas. It’s adorable, and a quick read, and definitely not one to miss.

Dean refused to look up his soulmate. His parents ran into each other by chance. Karen stopped by Bobby’s garage after her car unexpectedly broke down. Sam got seated next to Eileen on a plane, and he spent two hours miming conversation before she admitted she read lips.
Was it stupid for Dean to hold out for a story like that? Probably.
But he doesn’t regret his decision - not until Castiel Novak wanders into his tattoo parlor, asking about a cover up for his soulmark.
I first saw a link for this when the author posted about it, adding the tag #ConversationIsMyKink. Now I don’t know about you, but there was no way I was going to be able to resist at least checking a story out with that dangling out there to tempt me.
Soulmate stories have always been a little difficult for me to swallow. I personally don’t believe in them (my husband says I’m dead inside and insists we are, in fact, soulmates). But in the world of fiction and the glorious love is Destiel, I took the leap, and this story of all of them is one of my favorites. I can’t express strongly enough how much dejected/tattooed Dean and kind vulnerable Cas manage to affect the reader even in a short piece.
In this story, Dean is a moron, so typical Dean. He manages to make something that should be easy, really fucking hard. He’s a romantic and a perfectionist, refusing to settle for anything less than a beautiful story about how he meets his one and only. Of course, that means he’s a sad, depressed pile of plaid over not having a soulmate yet. All because he’s stubborn.
Cas has lost that lovin’ feeling. As a divorce lawyer, he knows nothing is a guarantee, even a soul mark. So when he goes to a tattoo artist to have his covered up, the universe conspires and he ends up in Dean’s chair. And the ensuing pining and flirting and glorious smut is our reward.

Sam is usually on farmer’s market duty for Two Brothers’ Bakery, leaving Dean to run the store. When Sam gets the flu, Dean steps in and takes over their stall for the day, finally getting a good look at the town’s flourishing artisan market. He expected a lot of vegetables and snotty-looking juice. What he didn’t expect was a blue-eyed honey seller and his barefoot, slightly-too-honest kid.
When Sam gets sick and can’t go to the farmer’s market, Dean goes instead. That’s where he meets adorable, always barefoot Jack who introduces Dean to his father, Cas, by saying “Daddy is alone, but it’s okay because he still has his right hand.” Best meet-cute ever amirite?
From then on it’s just a delightful read, filled with fluff, lots of pastries and Cas’ honey and the secret meanings of each type of honey. Seriously, this is 8k words of tooth rotting fluff.
