Hello everyone! 

We’re excited to announce a new Destiel fanfic blog. Starting January 31st, we’ll begin reviewing Destiel fanfics on a daily basis.

★ How does this blog work? This blog will post daily reviews about a wide variety of Destiel fanfics. From Monday to Friday, we’ll try to post a review once a day, these fics can be 3k or 100k+ words, from teen to explicit content, every type of fic might be featured here, as long as it has Destiel as the main pairing, we might review it.

★ Extra aspects of the blog For now, we take a break on weekends, but in the future we might add some new features to the blog during weekends so keep an eye for that.

In the future we’ll also start accepting submissions of reviews from anyone who might want to add to our blog.

★ Who are we? We’re a group of 5 avid readers who thought it would be fun to get together and gather all our reviews from all the fics we like in a blog that could help others find these amazing fics.

The 2027 round of the Dean/Cas Pinefest is officially open for registration!

Now entering its eleventh year, the DCPF is an annual big-bang style challenge for authors & artists in the Destiel corner of SPN fandom.

Since 2016, this little community has come together to share a staggering 11.6 million words of Destiel fic, and close to a thousand accompanying works of art. It’s truly a joy to see what everyone creates every year, and we can’t wait for this next round to begin!

Registration will remain open from now until October 25th for authors, with fic drafts & claims information due by November 29th.

Artists may continue to sign up until November 29th, and will have several days to peruse all available fics ahead of anonymous claims on December 6th.

After claims, author/artist teams will have roughly three months to complete their fics and artwork before posting commences on pi(e) day – March 14, 2027!

An agreement is reached: Dean goes, Castiel pays, and they'll exchange details and meet again to work things out. But who gets the dog? Sooner or later they're going to realise that having shared custody of one pitbull isn't ideal. She needs one home, not two. One stable, loving home...

If there’s one niche thing I love in fics, it’s when Dean and/or Cas have a little pet. I’m not even picky about what kind because a well written fic that includes a little pet will have me smashing the kudos button every single time. This fic passes the test with an adorable pitbull pup who ends up being named Rain Dog and who keeps our favorites linked throughout the story thanks to their shared ownership. 

While the story starts off with an accident, rest assured there aren’t any graphic descriptions of it or of treating the dog. The author is quick to move the story past anything that might be triggering or too sad, getting right to building up Dean and Cas’s situationship into the happy ending it becomes. This author is really great with their descriptions pulling you into the story and into the emotion of all the characters, including the adorable pup. Add to that musician Dean and some really funny role play and you’ve got yourself a cute read for the weekend. Enjoy!

Not only is it the Wintertide festival but Prince Dean Winchester is finally taking a mate, the omega Prince Castiel Novak, and in doing so, fulfilling the conditions to ascend the throne. For the Winchester people, it is a time of celebration. For Dean, it is a begrudged necessity. For the Novak family, it is a veritable coup. For Castiel, it is a prison sentence. The night before the wedding both men sneak out of the palace, determined to make their own decisions about what comes next. Neither of them expect an unlikely encounter with a stranger, an encounter which will change both of their lives forever.

Okay, but that summary? You already know this is going to be a fun one. It always is with hidden identities, but this one has that little something extra, the way it plays into the story, weaves the plot, and leaves you wondering how things are going to turn out.

Dean, wanting one last hoo-rah, sneaks out of the palace on his last night of freedom. But when he meets a stranger, he gets to see his predicament from a slightly different perspective. And not just his. For the first time since he heard about the Prince, he contemplates his position in all of this and realizes he is not the only one forced to do something he does not want to.

Cas is scared. He is in a new environment that is supposed to be his new permanent residence. All he wants is to go back, but he can't, because his family wouldn't take him back. It takes a stranger to make him see that perhaps this is a chance to change things, that maybe he could make this place a home for himself. That he could be happy.

And then they meet again. That's when the real fun starts.

For the longest time, I put off reading this fic because some of the kinks included in the tags aren’t my cup of tea. But I’ve really loved some of this author’s fics I read in the past and this seemed like an enemies-to-lovers and murder-husbands kind of fic that intrigued me. That along with the summary, I just couldn’t resist. And boy, this did not disappoint!

This fic starts right off the bat with smut while Cas is on one of his conjugal visits to Dean. And lemme tell you, it gets kinky and hot, that’s for sure.

The more Cas visits Dean to get information from him and they explore several different kinks with Cas being the unofficially dominant in the relationship, the more we get to know about them and about their secret past.

And through several twists and turns along the way, you understand they’re both messed up and their relationship isn’t healthy in any way, so if you’re looking for a fluffy, sweet relationship, this isn’t the fic for you, I mean just look at the tags before you dive in.

On Drowning

On Drowning by domesticadventures Rating: Teen and Up Word Count: 29k

The absolute last thing Dean would ever admit, after saving Cas' life, is that it was all thanks to the unhealthy amount of time he spent reading about drowning on Wikipedia. Not that he's not grateful, but what he really needs is an instruction manual for everything that comes after.

Something I’ll never shut up about is how eclectic this fandom can be. Considering we have access to over 100k fics on ao3 alone, you can find a fic for pretty much any flavor of fic you’re looking for. And that can include a range of fics that go from crack!fic to fluff, the the worst kind of angst you can imagine, and everything in between. 

On Drowning is one of those in between fics that is able to provide a healthy dose of angst along side some of the best in character Dean writing you could ask for in a story. Dean’s internal struggle with what his feelings for Cas mean, and what he thinks they could never be brought me to tears, and the soft ending left me satisfied for all of them and what their future could hold. 

I strongly suggest taking caution with the topic since it is graphically depicted in the story, but if that’s not an issue, you’re in for a wonderful read.
