Likes Blueberries. Andrena bradleyi. Think of a blueberry flower. Hangs upside down, shaped like a deep vase and its pollen is not out in the open but inside a tube where it is inaccessible. So very inconvenient if you want some of that pollen to eat or feed your babies. Unless you are one of a bunch of specialist bees who know how to get at that pollen (how? look it up yourself I am too tired to tell you). A. bradleyi is one of those specialists and has a particularly long face that is particularly good at poking into vase shaped flowers. The male, shown, here, also has a distinctive yellow patch on its face, that is unlike other bees, such that if you know the code you can id sir bradleyi right off. Which is nice because other male Andrena are not so easy. I like this shot by Jade Louis.
