excellent chompers on this little fella. male mining bee, Andrena sp., tentatively IDed as A. frigida.

simulate the experience of watching a mining bee dunk its head in a flower by flipping between these photos
alternatively, simply appreciate its shape. i find many visually distinct (yet equally impossible to ID) miners every year, but these are my favorite due to their size and orangeness
