Thank goodness I have another blog.
August 8 27 km
This morning in Padrón, it was very grey and promised to rain. We thought breakfast was included in our night but after we served ourselves, we were told it was 4€ extra. So we availed ourselves of a little extra bread, cheese and meat for lunch! Our hotel was actually 2.1 km before Padrón so we had a bit extra to walk. Tammy had secured us 2 nights in Hotel Santa Rita in Santiago so we were in no hurry to get to Santiago. Of course our usual pace tends to be faster than the average pilgrim and we were soon overtaking others. In the grey and rain, one doesn't feel much like taking pictures or looking about for more than the next yellow arrow but a few things caught our attention. The rain fell off and on. My pack cover just stayed on and I would throw back the cape bit when it was dry and bring it forward when it rained. Tammy's white poncho came off and on regularly. It was too muggy for a rainjacket but I did wear my hat to keep the rain off my glasses. After 7.5k or so we took a break and had a snack by a little fountain. Another 2 hours later we stopped at a café for another break and pit stop. I was plugged into my music and we had a fairly big hill of 260m and I just let it loose and plowed up that hill, passing pilgrims. I had no idea how fast I was going until at the top, Tammy said I pretty much ran up it. I blame Tim McGraw. I was listening to his Reflections album! Anyhow, we stopped for a pit stop and lunch at a mall in a town just south of entering the outskirts of Santiago. Tammy took a look at her email to see about where we were staying when she noticed that it said Mexico in the address. Since we had no wifi, we couldn't check it out and decided to figure it out when we got to town. Although we were quite concerned. The way took us back down into a valley and then back up into the city. It was sort of cool to see it on the horizon, we didn't know if we would due to the clouds being low. However, we had to continue on since we must build our cathedrals on hills! We finally entered the city. It was still raining off and on and we had lost our arrows. Suddenly we met up with a couple we had chatted with at the café, she from Miami and he from Scotland, and they redirected us. Once we got into the old city area, we were shocked by the sheer number of people! Laying about on their packs under archways, wandering with packs and ponchos, dogs, loaded bikes, tourists of all kinds. We found the tourist info and were helped by a nice lady. Sure enough, our hotel was waiting for us in Mexico. So Tammy emailed and canceled it. Apparently this has happened before with this hotel. So, since it is Friday and August, the town was 80% full and finding accommodation seemed to be pretty much impossible. We knocked on a few doors but there was no room at the inn for these weary travelers! After a cup of tea and a think, we decided to go back to the information place and get them to help us book something. We were even willing to go to A Coruna early and take the train back to visit the city tomorrow but there was a fiesta in A Coruna so that was out. While Tammy went to the travel office, I went to the Camino office to get my official Camino certificate. The line up was 2 hours long. And then there were those standing in line for those out looking and when they got closer, they came to stand with their people. And it began to rain like crazy. The line up went slowly. I plugged into my music and chatted a bit with people. One family was from Barcelona and had done the last 120k of the French route. She was french married to a spaniard. Their daughter had graduated and was thinking of spending a year in either Canada or the US. It was nice to chat with them. Eventually I got in. The fellow processing my credentials was from Miami. How ironic is that! In the meantime Tammy had got us the only room left at a very posh hotel at 85€ for the night and the second night at a pension for 40€. Of course after all that, I was cold and wet and hungry and a hamburger went down quite well! Tomorrow we will stash our packs and be tourists. Will be good to not have to schlep that thing around tomorrow. Hopefully we can attend the Mass at noon.

You all and I both. Would you mind posting some personal info on your gay friends? Little tidbits? Because as a gay guy who is new to having a lesbian friend (I LOVE IT) I feel like I give off the wrong vibe. I don’t know what I am asking. Help?
So I'm not sure exactly what you're asking, but I'll try to help. As a gay guy, I guess you aren't flirting with her, which is a good thing, because for the most part it's annoying when boys try to flirt with me. I have a bunch of gay guy friends and I have a ton of fun with all of them. I'm not sure what you mean "wrong vibe" but as long as you're supportive, then I'm sure you're fine. If you have a more coherent question or response to this I could probably help you better?
Hope this helps :)

Why is it that when someone risks it by showing one teeny tiny ounce of emotion, they're shot square in the face with the metaphorical shot gun named, "YOU DON'T FUCKING MATTER?"
