Mellona, Roman Goddess of Bees

   AKA: Mellonia

   Mellona is the goddess of bees, honey, and beekeeping, said to protect promote the supply of honey, as well as protecting the bees. She is a minor ancient Roman goddess, and there isn’t much information known about her. She is included in the indigitamenta, which is the list of deities that was maintained by Roman priests to make sure the correct deity would be called upon for public rituals.

   Her name derives from the latin “mel” or “mellis,” meaning honey.
