Mellona, Roman Goddess of Bees

   AKA: Mellonia

   Mellona is the goddess of bees, honey, and beekeeping, said to protect promote the supply of honey, as well as protecting the bees. She is a minor ancient Roman goddess, and there isn’t much information known about her. She is included in the indigitamenta, which is the list of deities that was maintained by Roman priests to make sure the correct deity would be called upon for public rituals.

   Her name derives from the latin “mel” or “mellis,” meaning honey.

I asked Mellona for a sign if She was calling out to me, found and rescued this bee 5 minutes later. Let her stay with me until she decided to fly away ♡

Rescued this tired little lady today!

She was caught unaware with our sudden cold snap and got blown into a sticky weed patch so I gently picked her up and took her back to my place.

Nothing a warm room, a snack and a nap won’t fix though and, after giving me a few high-fives, she gave me a little buzz that told me she was all good to go!
