Year-round, the inside of Karen and Matthew’s home is decked out in a style she calls Victorian goth. But, from August to November of every year, they turn their home into a Beetlejuice House, nicknamed “The Beetle House.”

Their dark living room — a style Karen refers to as "haunted brothel" — is decorated with black velvet curtains, a coffin coffee table and a red velvet couch. The walls are covered in spiders, bats and all sorts of creepy crawlers.

Here’s Karen sitting in the waiting room, the newest addition to the display.

A friend of mine’s cousin is the chef here at Beetlehouse, a Tim Burton themed bar/restaurant in the East Village, that delivers quality in both the food/drink and atmosphere/decor departments. Beetle House NYC. Beetlejuice *really* liked us! 😆 If you go, get a This Is Halloween cocktail. Sooo good! 🍸🎃 I prefer the LA location (it’s much grander with more rooms/characters roaming) but the NYC location was still fun! 🎃
