Leave it to @jigokuhana to make a gem AU for another cartoon I love dearly! 😉

I am loving the BeetleGem AU so far! And after seeing Aquamarine!Goody Two Shoes, I couldn’t help but think of another antagonist from the series trying to enforce certain standards on the Neitherworld; Little Miss Warden.

In the BeetleGem AU, I can see her being a Bluebird Azurite, specifically a fusion between an Aquamarine and a Pigeon’s Blood Ruby (yes, that is a legit ruby name).

And her “lollipop” is actually a customized Rejuvenator. It’s how I can see the Gem version of Snugglejuice being possible. Canon Spinel when she was reset to “factory settings” gave me serious Snugglejuice vibes.

you dont have to answer because i know our interest has shifted elsewhere and I get that hyperfixation feel, but if in the beetlegem au Beetlejuice unfused, what would the two gems look like? because you based that off him splitting many times in the cartoon, so would they look mildly similar to each other, or completely different? i had to ask because i was very curious and didnt see an answer for it yet that i could find.

ah! i actually have an answer for this~ they're completely different looking.

while i can't exactly represent each split version of himself, since we've gotten so many varieties depending on the circumstance, i mostly boiled it down to the two components being CHAOS & Snooty.

so to achieve that, his gems are a Spinel & an off-color/short Agate :3 here's an unfinished pic i still have lying around:

basically the Spinel part encompasses all his chaotic childishness, while his Agate part encompasses his ego/pompousness.

of course they both yearn for some kind of recognition, which culminates into BJ's neediness when it comes to Lydia's attention/affection.

to get BJ's more 'goody-goody' self we've seen, that would actually end up being his Spinel component if he were to fall victim to a rejuvenator.

so in your Beetlegem AU who fusioned gems feel more like Garnet or Morganite? And why not let the Maintlands be zoomans? afterall they seemed pretty tamed

(Sorry for the late reply X_X) For some reason my brain really isn’t processing the 1st part of the question. Maybe try rewording it? ^^; And because Zoomans aren’t a thing in the Beetlegem AU. Plus, I wanted them to be protective & watchful over Lydia, so having them be the Pearls of Lydia’s mom seemed appropriate. (That way, they can shapeshift into bugs & the like to keep an eye on her. But them moving around in the attic sometimes can be heard. So ppl think Lydia’s house is haunted. :P)

So is homeworld like the Neithworld and Beej will sneak Lydia off planet with the warp pad? I just noticed that a lot of characters seem to still live on homeworld so I was wondering how they would be included

Yeah, pretty much.

I mean, some characters lives are gonna be different to what they were in the cartoon (Prudence being a Peridot, Claire being a Diamond, etc.) to make it more of a plot-based au instead of the cartoon’s episodic/no-ongoing-plot format.

But for the most part, aside from Pru & Claire, most of the human characters are staying human, & the Neitherworld characters are gems.

You know... Charles never taking Lydia to a doctor in the BeetleGem AU would explain the slight fear of hospitals that Lydia has in the cartoon.

Oooh! That’s a good point~ Plus he’s probably told her aaall about how dangerous it would be for her because of her gem, so it wouldn’t really help matters.

I wanna think that they have at least a private doctor or something, so that she had her vaccinations & such. Since she doesn’t have Pink’s healing abilities. ^^;

The aquamarine looks so cute.

And she’s an over-controlling bitch w/ little regard for people’s own tastes & way of doing things. :D

(In the cartoon she basically acts as an emissary for the tv network censors, wanting to make everything cutesy & family friendly)

Pink Diamond looks like she's there to cause problems on purpose. (I've never seen the Beetlejuice cartoon, only the movie, but this is still a cool AU.)

Oh yeah, she’s a spoiled brat. In the cartoon and in this AU. But at least in this AU I can try to give her some depth beyond the valley-girl stereotype.

In the cartoon, Claire’s the typical nasty, blonde, rich girl to contrast Lydia’s ‘weird’, gothy nature (the cartoon was made in the late 80′s/early 90′s tho. can u really expect more from it?). She was basically made to be hated as a character, or at least irritate the hell outta people. >_>

Here she’s still that, but more on the level of canon!Pink Diamond before she had her character development. Which will happen for Claire!Pink later on, thanks to Lydia.
