[listen]
I opened my eyes because of a strange silence I got up to the rhythm of the dark bus My life that stands alone at this terminal Is no different from one that stands at the departure point The gazes that stare at me coldy Are no different from your eyes that stared at me warmly I wonder if that milestone in the distance is a reliable standard I wonder if the love I've leaned on is a reliable sentiment 조금은 익숙한 저 표정을 따라서 Following the slightly familiar expression 내 무거운 발걸음은 이 거릴 헤매네 My heavy footsteps endure this distance
This song expresses a sorrow that is so profound and real. It doesn't hit you over your head with its emotions. Instead, it persuades with a simple arrangement, and a melody that becomes more and more pained as the song goes on. The harmonies and interval leaps exude the feeling that Beggar Kim is crying for help.
The lyrics are a masterpiece on their own. Usually, sorrow is portrayed in songs very simply, as a result of a failed relationship. It's very rare that a song addresses the type of sorrow that we create inside of ourselves, as a result of losing hold of our feelings and thoughts, or becoming buried in them. These lyrics speak to that complex battle inside of us initiated by ourselves, and very difficult to fight.
Here are the English lyrics, taken from lyricalmovement
"I want to ask my stubborn heart where are you now and who are you looking for I want to ask my tormented mind where are you now and who are you thinking of reflections of myself stuck in times I would rather forget to the overlapping memories to all the greedy sides of myself I want to tell them although it's long overdue I tell those who coexist in my body the boy, the old man and the beast that I cannot love anyone that nothing is beautiful anymore that I don't know what I should do, what should I do"
