Kaistaa lyrics & translation
Lyrics:
Hi Käärijä Hi Bess Haluuksä lähtee ajeleen? Tottakai tottakai Okei, let's go
Ajan omaa kaistaa, Viel ku on aikaa, Vielä ku on bensaa suonissa, Sä voit hyppää kyytiin tai jäädä nyyhkiin, Miettii jonkun toisen huolia, Ajan omaa kaistaa, Voit tulla maistaa nopeeta elämää mun huulilta, Mun sydän on täynnä, Sit ku tankki on tyhjä, Aion elää ku oon elossa
Mulla on isääntymisen aikeet, mut lisääntymisen paineet Tääl on synnytystalkoot, olkoot, yks hailee Elämä on yht Lintsii, mut käymät vielä kaikki laitteet Ikääntyminen on iisii, mut mut kasvu vaan niin vaikeet
Taas viikonloppuna hiiala-hiiala-hopsansaa Näin huputiti-hummani laukkaa jälleen Möttönen pöydässä poksahtaa, se on viikon Koistinen kaupan päälle Äiti pojastaan pappia toivoi, sai sadomasokistisen toyboyn, se on henkilökohtainen voi-voi-voi-voi-voi
Ajan omaa kaistaa, Viel ku on aikaa, Vielä ku on bensaa suonissa, Sä voit hyppää kyytiin tai jäädä nyyhkiin, Miettii jonkun toisen huolia, Ajan omaa kaistaa, Voit tulla maistaa nopeeta elämää mun huulilta, Mun sydän on täynnä, Sit ku tankki on tyhjä, Aion elää ku oon elossa
Ajan omaa kaistaa, Viel ku on aikaa, Vielä ku on bensaa suonissa, Sä voit hyppää kyytiin tai jäädä nyyhkiin, Miettii jonkun toisen huolia, Ajan omaa kaistaa, Voit tulla maistaa nopeeta elämää mun huulilta, Mun sydän on täynnä, Sit ku tankki on tyhjä, Aion elää ku oon elossa
Translation:
Hi Käärijä Hi Bess Do you wanna go for a drive? Of course of course Okay, let's go
I don't want to sleep next to you (translator's note 1) I had something else in mind I don't want a mortgage, a regular haunt (t.n. 2), go to Spain to escape the winter If silence is missing, with me well you're going to get that so damn rarely so say, would it be OK, if we didn't buy a Volvo Would be throuple with the neighbour (t.n. 3)
I don't have a place/seat for someone who's afraid (t.n. 4) I'm putting the pedal to the metal
I drive on my own lane, While there's still time, While there's still petrol in the veins, (ref. 1) You can jump in (or: you can ride with me), Or stay and sob, Thinking about someone else's worries, I drive on my own lane, You can come and taste fast life from my lips, My heart is full, Once the fuel tank is empty, I'm going to live while I'm alive
I have intentions to become a dad, but the pressure to reproduce There's a childbirth bee (t.n. 5) going on here, whatever, I don't care Life is an (Linnanmäki) amusement park, but I haven't been to all the rides yet Aging is easy but growing up is just so difficult
On the weekend hiiala-hiiala-hopsansaa again Here's how my huputiti-horsey gallops again (ref. 2) Moët & Chandon/Champagne pops at the table, it's a week-long hangover on the house Mom wanted her son to become a priest (ref. 3) What she got was a sadomasochistic toyboy That's a personal oh-dear-dear-dear-dear
I drive on my own lane, While there's still time, While there's still petrol in the veins, You can jump in (or: you can ride with me), Or stay and sob, Thinking about someone else's worries, I drive on my own lane, You can come and taste fast life from my lips, My heart is full, Once the fuel tank is empty, I'm going to live while I'm alive
I guess I want too much something That it'd always be Saturday I wasn't born just to give birth I guess I want too much something That it'd always be Saturday I wasn't born just to give birth
I drive on my own lane, While there's still time, While there's still petrol in the veins, You can jump in (or: you can ride with me), Or stay and sob, Thinking about someone else's worries, I drive on my own lane, You can come and taste fast life from my lips, My heart is full, Once the fuel tank is empty, I'm going to live while I'm alive
translator's notes: 1: technically "I don't want to sleep with you", but sleep as in, actual sleep 2: could also be "a permanent job"? 3: could also be "would have a threesome with the neighbour"? 4: shotgun seat in Finnish can be called "pelkääjän paikka", lit. the seat/place of the afraid one 5: synnytys = childbirth, giving birth, talkoot = bee (as in, voluntary, unpaid gathering for carrying out a major task, such as harvesting or construction, as a community)

Even if Your Voice Fades, May the Song of Our Covenant Still Reach Your Heart
Sebastian Character Song — Translation & Notes
This is one of the character songs sung by Daisuke Ono for the third disc of Kuroshitsuji Sound Complete Black Box. Spoiler: it feels like Sebastian’s poem about the night their contract was made.
This song has to be my favorite piece across the entire soundtrack. Ever since I first heard it, I wanted to merge with it — to drown in the melody, the poetry, the vocals, the quiet ringing of bells that emphasizes every verse. It was literally the reason I started learning Japanese. And now, ten years later, I finally get to give something back.
P.S. Japanese is highly contextual and often ambiguous, especially in poetry. I did my best to stay true not just to the meaning, but to the feeling of the song as I hear it. I’ve also included a more in-depth version with personal notes below. Please feel free to share your personal interpretation. I'd geniunely love to know.
P.P.S. If that's your cup of tea, I also made a slowed/reverbed version with boosted vocals and strings — it scratches my brain just right → Google Drive
P.P.P.S. Fun-fact: the “gibberish” at the beginning is actually the song title played in reverse.

Without further ado—here are the lyrics and translation.

A fleeting moment — hope is torn away Consciousness fades — tears echo in the distance Tonight, life itself is drawn under Hellfire consumes, lurking in the dark
Falling into the full moon’s darkness Wings in service to my master Gazing directly into despair If I can protect that loneliness—
I will guard you No matter how deep the darkness, No matter how cold the sorrow, No matter how painful the past, To the point of madness
Even if everything is lost one day, Even if it ends in nothing but pain, If it grants you release, it is enough.
Reason shatters like glass In the shadow of resolve, a dark, sweet flame flickers The gaze, engraved into the body As bonds, screams, even aesthetics are stripped away
Amidst decorum and a sea of blood, My arms perform a song of death The fatal flame is kindled If this hesitation does not fade—
Kill me tight
Kill me tight Even such pure warmth, Even such bitter feelings, Even such distant smiles, All of it, I hold dear
Cutting words fade into the darkness Even if this body turns into a song If the eternal vow can still be kept—
Madness sleeping deep within broken eyes The blood of the covenant pours down
Crimson lips offer atonement A breath escapes the heart Fingertips waver, just barely Almost touching—
A white blade and light race forward, melting into a sea of suffering, If it grants you release, it is enough.

Now for some yapping!
A fleeting moment — hope is torn away Consciousness fades — tears echo in the distance Tonight, life itself is drawn under Hellfire consumes, lurking in the dark
The language here breaks into fragments, like flashes of perception rather than complete thoughts. It feels like witnessing: someone watching a soul descend, without trying to stop it. The phrase 命惹かれ ‘life itself is drawn under’ has a broader meaning of being drawn into something inevitable, almost like succumbing to fate. And the hellfire isn’t external, it devours from within, hidden in the dark.
Falling into the full moon’s darkness Wings in service to my master Gazing directly into despair If I can protect that loneliness—
The first verse was descent, fragmentation, loss of self, while this one is a presence emerging and choosing to stay. The ‘full moon’s darkness’ feels like a contradiction: a world that should be illuminated, yet isn’t. Clarity that only reveals despair, beauty that contains darkness, much like Ciel himself. So “falling into it” means entering his world. The wings are not necessarily literal — they read as identity, someone that exists to serve, a being defined by devotion. Sebastian looks at Ciel’s despair, his loneliness and sees it as not something to be erased. The kanji used here 護る is not just “protect” (守る). It has a deeper sense of guarding something sacred, worth defending. There’s something gentle in that and something quietly unsettling. A vow not to change the darkness, but to remain within it.
I will guard you No matter how deep the darkness, No matter how cold the sorrow, No matter how painful the past, To the point of madness
The original lines directly translate to colours: darker than any amber, bluer than any hair, redder than any memory. But they don’t describe objects so much as states of being. Dark amber feels ancient, preserved, already heavy with time and weight. Blue carries distance, coldness, nobility. Red is a memory soaked in pain and blood. So, to tie it all together: “I will guard you in all that you are, your past, your nature, your suffering, even if it turns unbearable.”
Even if everything is lost one day, Even if it ends in nothing but pain, If it grants you release, it is enough.
Here, the vow sharpens. Everything may be lost and collapse into suffering, and still, if it leads to 赦し (forgiveness, permission, release)... In this context I think that translation leans more towards ‘release’ — an end to the weight carried all this time.
Reason shatters like glass In the shadow of resolve, a dark, sweet flame flickers The gaze, engraved into the body As bonds, screams, even aesthetics are stripped away
Something begins to break here. Reason gives way first. What remains is resolve, but it no longer feels pure. It dimly flickers — sweet and dark. The body and the gaze become indistinct, as if something has been carved into both. Not just a mark, but a binding. And as it deepens, everything else falls away — connection, voice, the sense of beauty itself.
Amidst decorum and a sea of blood, My arms perform a song of death The fatal flame is kindled If this hesitation does not fade—
Elegance and violence coexist without contradiction. Everything is carried out with precision like a perfect performance. The scene is painted black with blood.
Kill me tight Even such pure warmth, Even such bitter feelings, Even such distant smiles, All of it, I hold dear
Then, such a twist. Suddenly, something tender. “To hold and to destroy at once” — the phrase itself feels wrong, almost broken. Where before the vow endured darkness, here it expands to include everything else: warmth, pain, distance. He cherishes what makes Ciel human, even though it might destroy them both.
Cutting words fade into the darkness Even if this body turns into a song If the eternal vow can still be kept—
Words that wound lose their shape here, dissolving into the dark. Even the body can be reduced to nothing but voice, memory, a trace. And still the vow remains unchanged.
Madness sleeping deep within broken eyes The blood of the covenant pours down Crimson lips offer atonement A breath escapes the heart Fingertips waver, just barely Almost touching—
Everything narrows down to the moment of resolve. The blood of the covenant carved into a broken eye, the fingertips about to touch. The decision has been made and can’t be changed for all eternity.
A white blade and light race forward, melting into a sea of suffering, If it grants you release, it is enough.
The final moments end in action. Everything surges forward, only to dissolve into something vast and inescapable. And still, this suffering and ruin can be embraced, if in the end it brings you freedom.
Acquiesce - Oasis
Acquiesce : 묵인
I don’t know what it is that makes me feel alive
I don’t know how to wake the things that sleep inside
I only wanna see the light that shines behind your eyes
I hope that I can say the things I wish I’d said
To sing my soul to sleep and take me back to bed
Who wants to be alone when we can feel alive instead
Because we need each other
We believe in one another
And I know we’re going to uncover
What’s sleepin’ in our soul
Because we need each other
We believe in one another
I know we’re going to uncover
What’s sleepin’ in our soul
What’s sleepin’ in our soul
There are many things that I would like to know
And there are many places that I wish to go
But everything’s depending on the way the wind may blow
I don’t know what it is that makes me feel alive
I don’t know how to wake the things that sleep inside
I only wanna see the light that shines behind your eyes

We believe in one another

What’s sleepin’ in our soul
What’s sleepin’ in our soul
‘Cause we believe
‘Cause we believe
Yeah we believe
‘Cause we believe
‘Cause we believe
‘Cause we believe
Because we need
Because what we need

Erkel Színház Elisabeth really is something. They wrote a whole new 2nd verse to the start of Prolog, instead of repeating the first one as it had been previously done in Hungarian. So naturally I had to translate it.
(I didn't put the Aber warum Lucheni? translation here, it's almost word-for-word the original; first verse's translation stolen from here with tiny modifications; rest of the lyrics same as the OG version, but Tod's part isn't the point now anyway)
There was one line I didn't understand, but!! @hazugv1lag has better ears than me so it is complete!!!

⊹₊˚‧ Oil Painting of a Woman with a Hat ‧˚₊⊹
A woman has been lost Knowing the delirium and the dust It's been lost, this beautiful madness Her brief waist beneath me It’s been lost, my way of loving It’s been lost, my fingerprint in her sea
I see a light that vacillates And promises to leave us in darkness I see a dog barking at the moon beside another figure That’s reminiscent of me I see more, I see that she didn't find me I see more, I see that she's lost
Cowardice is a matter Of men, not of lovers Cowardly loves never become Love nor history, they just stay there Not even memory can save them Nor the finest orator conjugate them
An unnamable woman Flees like a seagull And I quickly dry my boots, blaspheme a note And turn off the clock Love better watch out for me, For I just might sing its own song
A woman with a hat Like a painting from the old man Chagall Corrupting at the center of fear And I, who am not a good man, began to cry But back then, I cried for myself Now I cry to see her die
But back then, I cried for myself Now I cry to see her die
NOTES: if you're ever going to read something non-fanfic related from me, pls read this. THIS IS A TRANSLATION OF A SONG IN SPANISH, called "oleo de una mujer con sombrero" by Silvio Rodriguez. if you can, pls go give it a listen, it's one of the most heart-wreching songs i've ever heard.
i decided to do this because I'm planning on using the lyrics for a story im working on, and i just thought that this precious lyricism deserved to be more appreciated. many times song translations are done hastely and lazily, and therefore create this idea that spanish linguistics isn't half as profound and romantic as they actually are, so i took the time to try and encapsulate the beauty and poetic quality of the song.
probably no one is gonna see this, but if you do, welcome to the beauty of Latino lyricism.
