Review: Begin, End, Begin: A #LoveOzYA Anthology edited by Danielle Binks  Rating: 3/5

Begin, End, Begin is a lovely collection of stories from some of the most popular and prolific Australian YA writers. Most of the short stories were contemporary but a few were science fiction and those were the ones I enjoyed the most. There's some diversity but there definitely could've been more - I didn't notice any Indigenous characters, for one thing. But it's definitely gotten me interested in tracking down some more books by these authors to see how they write in a longer form. A fun anthology that would be a great read to familiarise yourself with some Australian authors.

- One Small Step… by Amie Kaufman - 5/5 - Martian lesbians make this automatically awesome. I definitely need to read more Amie Kaufman this month.

- I Can See the Ending by Will Kostakis - DNF

- In A Heartbeat by Alice Pung - 3/5 - I liked the voice but I found the 2nd person a bit confusing.

- First Casualty by Michael Pryor - 2/5 - This one seemed a bit too large scale for a short story but I enjoyed the world-building. I'd love to see it in a different format though.

- Sundays by Melissa Keil - DNF

- Missing Persons by Ellie Marney - 4/5 - Wasn’t expecting to read about the characters from Marney’s Every trilogy but I liked it. Kind of makes me want to try the trilogy again.

- Oona Underground by Lili Wilkinson - 4/5 - Cute wlw story with a spooky vibe.

- The Feeling From Over Here by Gabrielle Tozer - 4/5 - A cool story about two teenagers reconnecting and reconciling after a misunderstanding years beforehand. The dialogue felt so authentic - it has me excited to pick up Remind Me How This Ends.

- Last Night at the Mount Solemn Observatory by Danielle Binks - 4/5 - I enjoyed this one. Loved the Deaf rep and all the Auslan stuff.

- Competition Entry #349 by Jaclyn Moriarty - DNF
