#beginner archery

Did pretty good at archery today, last day of the beginner course. As I can do a month by month thing till I finish moving house, I'm gonna head to a real session next week!

Mine are the red nocked green and orange fletched arrows, and this round we were trying to pop balloons with three arrows at 20 yards.

I got two balloons this round- one balloon on the white (bottom left white), one balloon on the yellow (top center yellow). Last (bottom center yellow) arrow I missed the green balloon by a smidge, but hey still on the yellow!

One of my favorite things about starting to learn archery is that even with my very beginner knowledge of it, I can still be incredibly confused about book covers

One example example is that when @iwanttobepheonix first gave me Burning Bridge to read, I was looking at the cover during class and just went, "That's. Huh. I don't think that's how archery works."

My archery stuff collection, which is all black because that's literally all that was available to us, and that means that whenever I do my ranger cosplay it's gonna be a gothic ranger or something, which works tbh

Btw my dad also ordered me an arm bracer (I think that's what they're called????) With the quiver I just didn't include it in the og post cause I wasn't sure how to put it on lol

So, my dad had me doing a drill for aim that he knows as the paper cup drill, where I shoot basically point blank and only take a step back once all of my arrows hit the green

I never got to take a step back and went from 9 arrows to 7, but I did hit the green a lot more than I ever have! There used to only be 3 holes =]

I just had the FREAKIEST experience of my LIFE

While we were doing archery, my leg (especially my ankle) started shaking uncontrollably, fully distracting me from my shots. My back also kinda hurt, but I think that's cause I had done a full volley beforehand, and I haven't done archery for a little over a month now.

I ended up calling it early cause I was hot and my leg was making me mad, but as soon as we started getting the arrows, my vision straight up went black. Well, like, not went black, but like, y'know when you stand up too quickly and like half your vision goes black for half a second? Yeah, that happened to me for about 3 minutes. I could only see extreme shadows and highlights, and as my dad handed me a bundle of arrows, I could just barely tell they were there. At the same time, my hearing went wayyyy muffled, and I could hear an intense ringing in the back

It stopped about halfway through the walk home but my leg is still kinda shakey when I stand on it and I'm a tad light headed (that's probably just because I was hyperventilating while it was all happening, though). I realized halfway through typing this that I haven't eaten all day so that probably didn't make it any better lol

Archery Practice stuff

Another Tuesday down. Mainly using a Horsebow again, but uh... can you tell when I picked up the Fieldbow instead?

And of course just to make things difficult the last two rounds they moved the target back to 30 yards for the first time instead of 20 yards.

So I, having switched back to the Horsebow, obviously immediately missed every shot;

but I got a few on target using the Fieldbow for the last round at least.

Needless to say, I don't think I've been giving myself enough credit because this Horsebow is difficult af to use...

My best Round with the Horsebow;

Vs the first time I picked up a Fieldbow, which I have legitimately never used before;

Yehhhhhhhh I think I'm gonna get me one of these...

(I used the red nocked purple & green fletched or white nocked white & black fletched wooden arrows.

The red nocked yellow & blue fletched gold carbon arrows are not mine.)
