I don’t know who needs to hear this but:
(Traditional) meditation IS hard. And the classic meditation style you’re shown is advanced level.
✦ TIPS TO MAKE MEDITATION EASIER ✦
I’m talking about seated, eyes closed, silent meditation, for long duration of times. Meditation is, above all, about removing the noise in your mind to get some answers and insight.
If you haven’t had much success with the aforementioned method, try meditating in the following ways:
Try lying down. Yes, it might make you fall asleep or be more acutely aware of some somewhat hidden issues (like pain, discomfort, shortness of breath etc.). But meditation is also about bringing those issues to attention to fix them. Meditation is also getting insight on your physical well-being. Then you can work on fixing it 🤍
guided meditation
Meditating in small increments of time. Do it several times a day instead of in one stretch.
cleaning the house with no music
Stimming/doing a repetitive task (braiding, crocheting, painting, embroidering)
Taking a bath
Asking yourself questions first thing in the morning (credit to @VOIDCURATOR on Twitter). It looks like shadow work tbh, but asking unfiltered Q&A to really better your reality is SO good, and the most useful thing you can do for yourself.
Dancing
Removing the weeds in your potted plants, cleaning the leaves (if they’re indoors plants especially)
Petting or brushing your cats/pets
Just…Sitting by your altar (@VOIDCURATOR again)
Watching a candle burn
contemplating nature (sky, rivers, plants, etc.)
any activity that you can do in silence and put you "within yourself", into your body.
Plain old journaling
Jump rope, glutes bridges or any exercise or stretch that is repetitive like that
Enjoy yourselves guys, I hope it helps 🤍
