Game: Bad Ice Cream
Game development is a powerful tool of entertainment that is performed by many technical people. This aims to achieve different strategic and corporate goals inside and outside an organization. Last week we are given a specific take home activity which is to play a certain game, each group is composed of either two to three members. While playing the game, each member must be a keen observer, while the other member is playing the game. This will define the systematic approach and concept of the game which will later be discussed on the succeeding paragraph.
The game that we chose was Bad Ice Cream, it is a form of an arcade game which aims to defeat the monster and blow the walls of ice to block enemies and collect fruits. This game can be played by two person, somehow similar to bomberman and pacman.
While I was playing the game, at first I am a bit skeptical if I might enjoy the game or not because of its computer graphics. Some are not properly shaped and organized but it is still cute though. When the game is about to start, I was confused about the controls but later on I cope up and enjoyed it. I feel the excitement when the monster is about to chase my character, I somehow laugh and smile out of nowhere. I therefore conclude that it’s not on the graphics but on the content of a game, yes there are points that graphics are important but the inner activity is somehow more important.
After I played the game, it is now my groupmate’s turn which is Dariene Cosico. While she was playing, I observed that she is really excited, the game controls are being performed. This fueled her own creative process and this process is a source of wide-ranging happiness. During the times that the monster was about to chase her, she screamed steadfastly and restarts the game rhythmically.
Then now it is my other groupmate’s turn which is Edlyn Terrenal. She is a type of person who is calm and doesn’t acquire the word ‘tense’. While playing the game, I observed that she is eager to win the game and get away from the monsters. She fully did her best to perform all the indicated operations inside the platform, but still I can see that she’s truly enjoying the activity. Same with Dariene, she also screamed when the monster is about to chase her and then after that, she patiently wait for the game to restart again and play.
Revolving around the above information, I determine the various aspects on how does a game affect a person’s feeling. It may either cause happiness or annoyance. Annoyance takes place when the player cannot generate the game properly and tend to lose while happiness exists when the player win the game and enjoy all the activities which coincides within the same aspect.
