SkekTober day 26! Muppet Treasure Island!
No history of Jim Henson Productions--however abbreviated, as this one-month project is--could fail to include the theatrical Muppet films that we all hold so dear. None of these films are exactly spooky; "The Muppet Christmas Carol" is a ghost story, but I just can't do a third drawing specific to a Christmas film as part of my October drawing series. I just can't do it. And pirates are scary??? So today we celebrate the fifth of the Muppet feature films, with 1996's "Muppet Treasure Island".
A spiritually-faithful but far more overtly comedic and musical adaptation of the classic Robert Louis Stevenson adventure novel, it features most of one's favorite Muppets as well as several new ones, and a magnificent starring role for the incredible Tim Curry as Long John Silver. It was my personal favorite Muppet film when I was but a little wee JoJo, and the VHS tape got pretty worn out from rewatching.
