Being Bigger in Theatre

I’ve been contemplating writing something that just displays my struggle with weight and having to do so while being in theatre.  I think I wrote something like this before but I didn’t really do it from my perspective.  I’ll write about it later but right now I have to go

I think we can all agree that swings are the best part of the playground no matter how old you are.

Everyone around me is going on about losing weight and being slim and getting slim for more revealing cosplays and fitting the characters more . . . and now I'm paranoid about my size . . and now I'm not sure if as a cosplayer I should lose weight and be slim too . . . *gently rocks in corner sobbing*

one of the best things about being big and tall is five swings in and you're already at the top of the swing set

I am a big girl.

And I don't mean big as in old, I mean big as in fat. Hey, I'll say it. Cause it's the truth right? But you know what, just because I'm fat doesn't make me anything other than human.

I'm a big girl. Of course I'm not going to walk around saying I'm fat because I'm not self destructive. And at least I can admit to it. But there is something that people need to know and understand about me.

I'm a big girl, physically, obviously. But I have a big mind; I am intelligent. I have a big mouth and I will feel free to voice my big opinions. I have a big heart and I love in a big way. I have big emotions and when they are threatened I will express them in a big way. I have a big personality that shows when I'm around those I love. I have a big laugh, a big smile, I cry big tears and give big hugs. I have a big ass, big boobs and am proud as hell.

So if YOU want to comment on how big or fat I am. You bet I am. And I'm proud of that. Because at the end of the day, my capacity for compassion for the human condition is bigger than yours. My respect for others is bigger than yours. My life is bigger and better than yours.
