So I've been re-reading Keymaster's Tengu of Misfortune..
This is a really silly thing to get up in arms over but I've been really annoyed by it so now I'm gonna write out trivialities.
I think it's really always going to be ass to have your world be unserious and serious at once. You can have the funny in your serious world and have serious topics taken with some humor, but you have to pick because larger than life characters like their Aya or Marisa just seem like humongous assholes if you don't.
And sure, part of the point is them being kind of assholes but when played for laughs actions are treated seriously the vibes suck.
I don't really approve of the 'funny perv aya' depiction but you could at least make her seem less of a huge psychopathic dick by playing it to its conclusion. When Hina turns the tables, have her respond enthusiastically and then be confused by whatever negative reaction Hina gives. People's worldview colors everything, so just make her think different instead of apparently never using her mirror neurons in several hundred years! It still kind of sucks and makes her look like an asshole but if you dole out a scene where you unwind her out of that tangle of concepts I think it sucks way less!
It really is ine of those no win situations I think though, potentially. Played for laughs perversion and what is... yknow, SH if not actual SA...
I had a degree of fun with Keymaster's Being Meiling, which is probably why I'm just so ticked off about this.
