to find presence

I need a language to speak so I can say the thing, the magic word to get him to speak and move. And the magic word is silence. It is presence. It is being with. I, who love words, I am torn that a word is not the answer. A word will never be enough.

 The space between the words is what makes the word beautiful, intelligible, significant.

 So I sit in silence. I sit because my tongue is inadequate but my body, this broken body beside another aching body, is enough. Here, words are crude and limited. Supplemental. My presence is silence, space between words, and I learn a new language.
