Casting a net in order to get a good catch. Putting aside all the obvious differences, like being far away from any relevant body of water, there's a lot in common with fishing and harvesting olives.

"Alminhas.
Small shrine where people can stop briefly to leave a prayer and sometimes a small coin for the souls of those who have already gone. Usually placed by a road or pathway, sometimes in a settlement or at a crossroads, but often in the middle of an empty stretch of country road, or at the top of a hill or mountain. It is also frequent to find a burning candle or lamp, or even other offerings like flowers."
This one fits perfectly the definition: standing at the top of a hill, in the middle of nowhere, by a crossroad, like so many others in the region, and feeling particularly eerie today with the thick fog that today covered one of my backyard photography spots. I didn't say a prayer or leave a coin, but being November 1st I did save a thought for the dead...
