its been a second but as SOON as i took a bite of this one i felt like a person again. y'all? it's really good and fresh. although it's listed as a brazilian sandwich, i think it's important to note that this sandwich has origins among syrian-lebanese immigrants to brazil. beirute is a reference to Beirut, the capital of Lebanon!
I made this sandwich using flatbread, cheese, roast beef sprinkled with oregano, cherry tomatoes, and butter lettuce, toasting the bread just long enough to melt the cheese. it was super fresh, and i think the veggie/bread ratio being different than it would have been t'were it on a yeast bread really added to that. also super appreciated the oregano - i think it added a lot of dimension to the meat and definitely elevated it beyond a regular lunchmeat-type of sandwich
