I don’t know who needs to hear this, but NEVER let a teacher tell you you can’t do something. Teachers don’t know their students, they don’t know their strengths and weaknesses, and they let their personal biases get in the way of fair evaluation. A teacher told me I wasn’t smart enough for my chosen course, that I should consider something of a lower level instead, and when I did the course anyway, I passed my tests with flying colours. My brother’s teachers forced him to go to a lower level because they didn’t like him and found him “lazy” because he didn’t participate in class. They never wondered if maybe he was shy. Teachers don’t know you, they don’t even bother to try, and they sure as hell don’t know what you’ll be good at and how well you’ll do. So don’t let them stop you. If you have the will and motivation for it, go for it. You can do it.
