Chapter 6 is up! This is a very short chapter (for me and for Caecilian, anyways) and thus, as a rare treat, is getting uploaded very early. Mostly it's because what was going to be this chapter ended up getting split in two, so Chapter 7 will include the rest that was going to originally be all Chapter 6.
Anyhow, with this, finally all the characters that I've actually tagged this as having have shown up! Maybe I'll eventually find some tag for the King, but for now, this is all of the main players.

I wasn't able to do it when I first posted Caecilian, but this year I finally manage to update Caecilian on Miranda's birthday! For context, this particular chapter takes place on the date of March 13th (with a little bit of the night before), but considering the entire fic revolves around Miranda's birthday and the week surrounding it, I don't feel bad picking March 16th as Caecilian day.
That said, there's a whole lot of talking in this chapter, which is probably going to get even more common as time goes on.
Decided to go ahead and finish the rest of Bellanda's reference page tonight, so here she is!
And yes, fun fact, Bellanda's eyepatch is technically a "barnacle" animal (not a real barnacle, just is made to stick to surfaces like one) bred into the shape and colors that it has. It doesn't really do much, just helps protect the exposed and thin skin, and also other royals demand it for her to be "presentable" as a Princess to the Royal Family, but, like, you know.
progress on bellanda again. also here's when i reveal that she has a supernumerary gill set! it doesn't work, it can't open, it's covered up entirely by skin and isn't as well developed as her other gills. but it's there!
BEHOLD. the token example of "what is peak attraction for merfolk". bellanda's the handsome sister and she knows it.
also because now i can put bellanda next to the other two:
on one hand, GOD miranda really is tiny and noodly for a merfolk, little sister indeed. on the other hand, i promise i can do so much better in her artwork now i PROMISE but i cannot let myself be tricked into redoing her reference sheet already.
also. yeah bellanda is BIG. there's a reason aaravi is deeply intimidated by the elder sister here. they do make a very cute miivt'ia, though. :>
i need her to look fuckhuge here because. accurate bellanda experience.
thinking bellanda thoughts today.
