I finally finished the cover artwork for Caecilian, my current big fanfiction project, and right in time for Chapter 4: Crossing the Threshold to be posted! I wanted something that put both Miranda and Aaravi next to each other, to show off their physical differences that are at full display inside Caecilian, and also to practice rendering water, as much as it kills me.

If you don't know what Caecilian is, in short: Aaravi has just newly entered into a relationship with Miranda, but the full context of that relationship is beyond her. She might call her her wife or her girlfriend, but in truth they are something called "ul'kiha", which exists as a cultural concept within the Merkingdom but Aaravi can only approximate.

This is bad enough, but when Miranda is called back home to her kingdom for their largest holiday, Aaravi has to navigate both their new relationship and all the complicated baggage that comes with Miranda's very existence.

Second, I have not watched DC creature commandos, but I really want to.

Third, Lagonna was my first time drawing Gen 3 Monster High

Lastly, one more wave to go....Also, I watched a movie I forgot about from the earlyish 2000s, might cram in another character (any guesses who)......is this too many fish monsters yet?

I was gonna save these for Mermay, but fuck it, I couldn’t wait. I’ve wanted to give Miranda (and her sisters) some proper appreciation for a while, and now’s the perfect time to show it!

I’m really happy with how these turned out. Maybe I’ll do more in the future.

And Chapter 7 of Caecilian is finally up! Certain elements start to show their faces, and Aaravi and Miranda both have a very awful end to a very long day. With this chapter done, Aaravi has finally finished her first day inside the Palace, the same day that took up chapters 5, 6, and 7. Next time, she finally gets to move onto March 14th.

That said, I'm going to take a break for the next three months from Caecilian, since writing this chapter was so difficult due to real life problems. Next update should be, similarly, sometime in March, so hopefully this should last you until then!

Chapter 6 is up! This is a very short chapter (for me and for Caecilian, anyways) and thus, as a rare treat, is getting uploaded very early. Mostly it's because what was going to be this chapter ended up getting split in two, so Chapter 7 will include the rest that was going to originally be all Chapter 6.

Anyhow, with this, finally all the characters that I've actually tagged this as having have shown up! Maybe I'll eventually find some tag for the King, but for now, this is all of the main players.
