I’m with you he needs to practice his lyrics. It’s one thing when he forgets his lyrics at his own shows but when it’s something like this he should really learn the song. I cringed so hard 🙈
absolutely. it was quite an honor for him to be invited to participate in this event, with performances by brilliant, acclaimed musical theater writers and broadway stars with huge voices. his was the only acoustic performance and it should have been flawless; it was really quite unprofessional that he was unprepared. i don’t think it’s far-fetched for me to say that i am one of his biggest fans, but i do not hesitate to be critical when the occasion calls for it. kudos to him that in his 30s he wanted to put on a show on a saturday night and then perform two days later and 3500 miles away, but perhaps that was a mistake. he can do better, and it is my personal opinion that he should devote the necessary time to practicing for performances that are not purely for his own fan base, or simply say no thank you and move on to the next thing. luckily, the audience encouraged him - he’s so endearing and charismatic; how could they not?? - and he was able to recover. and for that, i was a proud fangirl.
