How Far To The Train Station? / Bellatrix & Regulus.
Wringing his napkin in his hands, Regulus sat in the dining room of Number 12 Grimmauld place with white knuckles and a surely afraid expression. He'd tried to make it stony, like the rest of his family but found himself unable. There was absolutely no way he could ever swallow this whole. They had been talking all evening about Regulus' 16th birthday in January and when he should join the Dark Lord and take the mark for good. The war was creeping up the spines of everyone who had ever heard, whose ears it reached, but Regulus was not one to truly want this. He had beileved so desperately that this cause was right because his family did, because his whole life was centered around such things.. but a night with Sirius and he'd changed his entire outlook on life. Kreacher's face even held haunted things and Regulus did not like it one bit, not a damn bit. No one should have to suffer. Yet he didn't believe either side was right. The 'good' side didn't exactly use healthy methods either. They jailed people. Jail was supposed to be rehabilitation not only punishment.. yet people were getting their souls sucked out of them and at what cost? Death, of course.
He didn't want to lose his soul.. it was his hidden sanctuary from all that was hateful and deceitful Regulus was not these things. He was pure, he was clean yet nobody seemed to realize this because of his family, because Blacks were pure as pure could get. It wasn't as if they believed in killing everyone.. Walburga had made that quite clear. She just wanted justice. She just wanted everyone to be pure.. however, the means to getting that was ruthless and brutal. But then again, so was Walburga Black so she had no objections.
But Regulus now, Regulus was shaking in his perfectly shined shoes as people grabbed his chin and looked over his perfectly carved features. His angel face, his childlike expressions. They'd let go and walk away, but he still gripped the cloth napkin as if it was his last lifeline.
When he found an out, he ran to the bathroom, suddenly ridding himself and his stomach of the contents from tonight's dinner. He was sweaty, shaking, and most definitely scared. But he still had time. A knock on the door cause him to jump. Regulus hurriedly brushed his teeth and washed his hands, walking out of the bathroom and past whoever it was.. then straight into the parlor. Where he found Bellatrix. He let out a sigh of relief, though it wasn't really any at all. Bellatrix scared the life out of him, yet she was family.. so at least he had that common ground. Regulus doubted she wouldn't hesitate to kill him or even Sirius, but only time could tell you those things. "Bella.." He said softly, catching her attention. Regulus cleared his throat, tears welling up in his crystal-like, grey-blue eyes. NO! You cannot cry in front of her, it's weakness! She'll surely tell and you'll be beaten again! Do not cry. His mind screamed at him.. yet, a tear slid down his porcelain cheek, leaving a little, wet track line. "I don't want this." He whispered more to himself than to her.. but he doubted he'd find any solace in her.. He'd just sealed his fate by finding her at all.
