7. Silent fury

(This is a tiny prequel to the Powerless trilogy) (that’s right, I said trilogy 😉 ya girl is ambitious lmao)

I stood behind the gauzy curtain, my gloved fists clenched as I tried not to sweat from the nervousness that was coming in droves. I was next in line, and my name could be called at any second.

“Princess Louella of Eskau!” boomed a voice from the other side of the hall, echoing, and I was very unceremoniously shoved through the curtain and then a strange man grabbed the sleeve of my pink dress and escorted me down the walkway.

King Alexander was sitting on the gilded throne at the other end of the room, his chin leaning on one of his fists, and as soon as his smug, self-righteous gaze met mine I couldn’t shake the silent fury rising in my chest. His eyes were black and blue, so he could probably kill me in an instant, but the way he looked at me made me want to fight him.

I didn’t, of course, instead opting to stand still and keep my good posture despite every part of my body itching to strike King Alexander with all my lightning.

I only hoped he wouldn’t pick me, but of course that’s why I’m writing in this diary, so you must know that he did.

When he said “She shall marry me,” I wanted to wither away into nothingness. I couldn’t believe that George had simply offered me up like this.

Diary, I want to escape. But I can’t.

💯 arrogance

Queen Kalani from Powerless is very arrogant. She’s super full of herself and is almost universally hated (though she also is almost universally feared, so nobody dares cross her).

Alex Ling from A Little Bit of Both is also very arrogant. He’s the hottest and most popular guy in school—every straight girl, gay guy, and bi/pan person likes him and if they don’t they wish they were his friend. It’s all gotten to his head, unfortunately, and he’s super popular but SUPER arrogant.

Camryn from A Little Bit of Both is also pretty arrogant, but that’s just a defense mechanism which is why she’s put last here. She’s the popular girl to Alex’s popular guy, and they’re the cutest couple in school (until... something happens, and now she’s just Noah’s math tutor and,,,, crush????)
