a bouquet for the dead

So maybe most people went into the flower shop looking for bouquets for loved ones or friends, but for belle, well, she was getting a bouquet for the dead. Donning a wispy black summer dress that hid her toes, Belle stepped into the meticulously arranged shop, eyes looking at the various items on display. 

but she didn’t want to just buy a pre-made bouquet, she wanted something more special. She wanted to use the language of flowers. 

But what did she want to say? Belle wasn’t quite sure. and even if she were, her knowledge of flowers and the messages they conveyed were quite limited. Walking through the store while occasionally stopping to observe a few brilliantly delicate arrangements. 

Noting down the fact that the florist had finished up with the previous customer, belle made her approach. “uh hello there, I’m looking to make a bouquet, but I’m not really sure how that all works and such.” a sheepish chuckle escaping before a smile rests on her lips.

although he wasn’t able tell the difference between daisies and carnations, and the intensifying smell of all those manifold scents overlapping each other sometimes gave him a solid headache, he never minded helping his parents around the shop, without asking for a single penny in return. he couldn’t imagine his future there, though. not due to flowers not managing to get the littlest piece of his interest — because he could force himself to learn those types and names by heart — but like every young person he wished for self-reliance and settling down instead of forever having parents for supervisors.

jaehwan took the last box out of the delivery van and soon rested his sore palms on his hips whilst giving the new roses a brief glance — in fact, those were the only ones he could recognize, probably thanks to their popularity. his father flashed a genuine smile at him, the one that was so characteristic to his son as well. the man gave him a gentle pat on the back and told him to finally grab something to eat and drink.

entering the air-conditioned shop with a small drip of sweat rolling down his forehead, he stretched his arm out for a bottle of sparkling water, which was nearly a blessing. taking a sip, a familiar figure sitting on the floor fell into his sight and an almost inaudible sound of a pencil meeting a sheet of paper. taking a slight step towards the girl, he leaned in and squinted his eyes to have a better view of the thing she was sketching.

Do You Need Help?

On any other day where store traffic moved at a snail’s pace, she would be at the checkout counter or in the manhwa section, pretending to organize when all she really did was flip through each manhwa that had an interesting title or cover page. But today was Wednesday, which meant boxes and boxes of shipment that she would most likely work overtime to finish. 

In her mind, there were two boxes down and a million to go, each filled with fantasy, romance, thriller, and any other genre imaginable compressed between a hardback or paperback cover. With a box cutter in hand, she cut open another box and continuously repeated the process. After pulling apart the four corners to reveal rows of magazines, she sets the box on a cart along with a few others, and rolls it towards the magazine section. 

As she peeked around her boxes, she noticed a certain customer occupied in the magazine isle. By her tall appearance, maybe she worked as a foreign model or she was simply a student. Foreign customers were likely to occupy the store, considering they sold an assortment of English language fiction and non-fiction books. 

However, at such a time, it was her time to shine. Although her accent was prevalent and the words flowed smoother in her mind than outspoken, she took every opportunity to practice her third language. Always willing to assist, she pushed her cart aside and eagerly stands by her costumer, brown eyes looking up at the pretty woman, she put on her best smile and asked “Do you need help?”

         “Look, I really hate you so let’s just not talk.”                             “I even hate the fact that we’re breathing the same air now.”  

No one has expected this to happen: for Haru and Belle to be step-sisters. They’re obviously different from one another but they share one similar thought—they would not fucking get along at all. Haru doesn’t like the idea that she's getting another ‘father’ and even more surprising, ten step-siblings. Her mother must have been insane but that’s already something that Haru is aware of. But when Belle suddenly got involved in drugs, Haru can’t help it to just watch the young girl ruining her life since she’s totally against all this. Both of these girls started to grow a bond between them and eventually got closer until they’re barely separable anymore. Although Haru tends to deny it at times, deep inside she truly cares for Belle. To Haru, Belle is probably an unexpected step-sister but she’s literally the best she could ever ask for. 

                               “Can I call you unnie?”                                                “Oh my.”                                         “Haru unnie. It’s weird, right?”                                “You’re weird, Belle.”

Just for the sake of you, Belle. See? I’m not really that mean. You’re definitely the most forgiving person ever and for that, you deserve some hearts. ❤❤❤
