Oh, I've never been tagged in one of these before! Thank you @ceribrennanwrites for the tag!

I have one WIP that I'm currently spending all my time on, so let's use this game to explore Ronan from my Sequel/Prequel to my book, Drifters Guardian, a magical realism series set in present day. This prequel takes us back to the creation of the Organization that we meet in the first book, expanding on its origins and focusing on the conditions of its creation. We're currently at 15 chapters, so we'll grab one from each and go in order, so they'll start a child and end an adult:
“Forgive me. I do not know what this place is.”
Well, you’re no more than half Charles’ size, so by your logic, would be no more than half a man.”
“What you call magic, is where I come from. It is all we are. It exists here” — I pointed to the dwindling fire, the soft hiss of the Source barely audible — “weak.” And then to his door, where a steady thrum emanated from its edges, fusing it with the stones that surrounded it. “And strong.”
“This body is for feeling,” I said as I turned to test the speed of my newly sure legs. “It would be a pity to waste it!” I shouted as I stretched the distance between us.
“Your father knows nothing of me,” I said, feeling mischievous. “Felt nothing of the magic I used to seal this world off from mine. He will know nothing of this.”
“And what of Galdryn?” I asked, my apple still sitting whole in my hand. My appetite had fled at some point in the conversation. “You will take magic from them. Where will they take magic from for their people?”
“You want to protect your people,” I said, feeling hollow. “I don’t have a people, so while I can’t understand it, I can respect it.”
I did not move. “Treena” — the ground rumbled faintly as the threads of the boundaries scalded me, wrapping themselves tightly around my fingers and up my forearms, scouring my skin as I absorbed their power — “tell me.”
I stepped forward, delirious and daring. “The future king,” I mocked, cruelly, “who won’t even take what he wants.”
“You are not me.” “We are all the Source-” they said, remaining unfazed. “No, we’re not.” I slapped them in the face harshly. “I didn't feel that; you did. You are not me.”
I turned my head to look at him. “Ruling?” He smiled. “What did you think we’d be doing?” “Teaching.” My voice was defensive. “I have no interest in ruling over anyone.”
“It forms a blood pact, binding all living beings of one blood line to another. When I traveled we were but a few, and now” — I gestured all around me — “we are all the Source.” I watched awareness dawn in them. “We all came from the same place — share the same blood. You would have bound our entire race to one pact.”
“You have a right to see. Have a right to return here if you so choose and be amongst your people. And you have a right to stop hiding; to show Shira, and the people you care about that you have been living amongst, who you really are.”
Lián watched me with an amused look on his face. ‘How old are you, Ronan?” I snorted, choked on the brandy. “That’s an utterly impossible question to answer.” “Right… but you look young… about twenty-five or so?" I nodded. “Or as old as the universe. Or fourteen,” I said with a shrug.
“There are Changelings in their ranks, ones I approached in my time living in your world. A benefit of my ability to assimilate. Valko is a tyrant; he hoards power, cages the weak during Luna’s rituals so they can’t turn or heal. It is torture. There are many in his ranks — far more optimally place to reduce casualties — who would gladly revolt against him if given the opportunity. Strategic advantage for your tribes is short sighted and, more importantly, cruel.”
Wow, this was super fun and makes me realize how far this character has traveled (and, how little they actually say versus their running thoughts which are relentless). Thanks for tagging me and making me just a little bit proud of what I've written.
I don't have too many writing mutuals, so I will just tag a few names I know off the top of my head: @evajkrammerwriter, @scistoryteller; @afrenchwriter, @gaiaseyes451 and anyone else on here who wants to play!
